Black, Fine Tip Generic Refills for Livescribe Pulse, Echo or Sky Pens. Smooth-writing, Premium German Ink.

It's a dream to write with my pen now. The replacements I bought previously were awful.

Before buying these I read the reviews for the same ink refills in blue. I was honestly a little nervous, every review was 5 stars and every single review used the word "smooth" to describe the ink. It just sounded like a company planting their own reviews. I never had a problem with the factory pens writing quality, I didn't buy a Livescribe pen for penning letters to people. My main gripe is that the refills are expensive and every pack comes with a useless red refill. Who in the world uses red?? Having never had a problem with the writing quality doesn't keep me from realizing that they were terrible in comparision! These pens write so well that I can't imagine going back to the factory refills unless they end up having a MUCH shorter lifespan. If that happens I'll post an update.

I've always hated the refills supplied by Livescribe, and it took the joy away from using the Echo pen. My hand would often tire after taking notes with it. I do admit that these generic refills are smoother, and cause less hand fatigue. The fit may be slightly looser, but I wouldn't have noticed it if other reviewers hadn't commented on it. I'd love an "extra-fine" tip to be added to the lineup as well.

The ink is as pretty and as smooth writing as promised. However, the diameter of these refills is ever so slightly smaller than the 'official' refills, which causes my pen (4GB Echo) to rattle and click when I write with it. I'm fiddling around with little pieces of clear tape to try and make the refill fit a little better, but it's not an elegant solution. *** EDIT *** I hate to do this, but I need to take a star off of my review of this item. I managed to get the refill so that it doesn't rattle and so that it doesn't mess with the pressure sensor in the pen. However, today I had to take the refill out of the pen. The ink skips terribly. Ever since I've started using this refill, the margin of my pages are filled with little scribbles of me trying to get the ink to flow. If I put the pen down for an hour or two, when I pick it up again, the ink doesn't flow immediately. I have to write or scribble in the margins until the ink starts flowing and a line starts appearing. This is made worse by the Livescribe pen -- it feels pressure on the nib and records a line even when the ink isn't flowing. Over the past few days, this has gotten worse, and now the ink randomly stops flowing in the middle of a word. I have to scribble in the margins until the ink starts flowing again lets me continue writing. Since I'm using this pen to take notes in meetings, I'm losing words and wasting time trying to get the ink to work. I use the cap on the pen religiously because I keep the pen in my shirt pocket -- this does not help at all. The Livescribe refills are scratchier and uglier, but at least they work when I need them to. :/

These do fit the Echo pen. But it is a strange fit. And the other reviews are correct, the ink doesn't flow constantly. The ink does randomly stop flowing at times. I was contacted by the seller and was told this happens due to the dotpaper, however I'm not really sure why that would be the case. They sent me a replacement set but they all still have the slightly same problem. But to get around that you can just get some regular paper and scribble on it till the ink flows. So far this has been the only option for ink refills if you don't want to spend $25 ordering other things for the brand name ones to even ship. So I'm giving these 3 stars for excellent customer service and just an ok product.

I wish to save anyone else the inconvenience of a terribly bad knock off item. 1st: the refill barrel has a locking groove that is not correctly located so it does not lock into the retaining ball on the pen properly. This causes the tip to bounce when trying to write. So it is always clicking up and down and you cannot place the tip accurately onto the paper where you want it. Gee Whiz! 2nd: the ink viscosity is too thin so the ink does not flow onto the special paper as smoothly, so it picks up fibers from the paper and jams the ball. Merde! Then you have to stop writing and wipe the end off every two inches or so of travel. Ils nous merdon! This is the most annoying and displeasing, to say the least because it disrupts your train of thought constantly. They really **** us! 3rd: There is not a plug as mention in somone else's review/ description of this refill, nothing in the end of the barrel so ink can leak out or dry up. This can't be German made precision! Perhaps Germany drop ships them from Pakistan.

This is exactly what I was hoping it would be. They write a little thinner than the stock medium point which makes my notes much more readable. They are the same length as the stock cartridge as well. I do notice a little rattle from it, I will have to check my recording to see if it's noticeable.

Good product, great value. Matched the description and works will with the Echo Smartpen. Definitely would buy again.
