Fantastic Deck!
I've been studying, reading and meditating with the Tarot for almost three years and recently was introduced to the Lenormand system through a free App called "Lenormand HD." I took it lightly in the beginning and as I progressed doing 3 cards reading for myself in a daily basis, I began to realize how bluntly and accurately the cards were speaking to me.This led me to my new journey with the Lenormand cards as I decided to acquire a physical deck and learn as much as I could about this new oracle system. When checking on amazon for the options available, at first I was a little disappointed with the variety considering all the Tarot decks currently available. After reading all the descriptions, reviews and not knowing much about the different decks and designs, I decide to go with the Harold Josten's deck. From a newly introduced the the Lenormand system perspective, I am very happy and satisfied with my choice. This is a beautiful reproduction of the 1878 D.Dondorf deck version with the verses in English written with the same Gothic font originally used (the other version has miniature playing cards depicted instead).Beautiful print on high quality card stock with a fantastic companion book describing the basic meaning of the cards and their modern symbolism as well. Guidance, insights and tips on the meaning of the cards are invaluable in understanding this new approach to divination.I highly recommend this deck for beginners and advanced as well, for there is always something new to learn and appreciate when we experience it from a fresh perspective. If you do chose to acquire this deck, I do hope you enjoy your experience just as much. Please see pics I have added to listing.

Beautifully Presented
This is probably not for the advanced reader of Lenormand, but sometimes simple is best. The book is matter of fact and not overly complex, so I think it is perfect for someone who is wanting to learn the cards. The box and overall presentation is neat instead of flimsy and poorly packaged. My only complaint is the ridiculously thin card stock. I am a collector of Tarot, Oracle, and Lenormand Decks. I don't understand why anyone puts so much effort into a set with a nice book, a nice box, and a poor deck of cards bordering on "paper." When will this trend end? I would much rather pay a little more for decent cards!

Great buy. For me.
My second Lenormand set of cards. I wanted to try Lenormand on my reading since I am a tarot reader for decade's and not desapointed with this set. I just think other reviews are bad because they don't have the poker pips or pics on the card. For for a begginer like my self they worked wounderful the book is amazing. Love my purchase. The cards are not the greates quality but for the price I thing is good. As for the cards I wished the had like a pouch or a box the the cards it selfs. But over all great buy.

I would hate for anyone new to Lenormand to start out with ...
I would hate for anyone new to Lenormand to start out with this book and deck! And experienced readers will not find anything here worth the cost of the set. The card stock is not that bad - typical of European Lenormand decks - but the Fraktur font used for the verses on each card is very difficult for English-speakers to decipher and makes the occasional typo frustrating to figure out. The deck verses are rarely helpful and not what is found on traditional decks. Example-Rod: "For he who is husband, the Rod means strife is on the way. If your day is dark and grey, listen to what your wife has to say."The book is a traditionalist's nightmare. Josten starts out with Mountain as the fulfillment of a goal, but with a card text that says, "The closer the mountain, the closer the enemy." The author then talks about Mountain as the world axis and other mythological and symbolical references. Fish is supposedly about psychological and spiritual matters. The "Modern Symbolism" section is a long rant about water being a separate environment than ours, but that fish carry powerful symbolism because water does. His advice: "Seek answers, and go get your fish!" {Added: for those unfamiliar with Lenormand, these meanings have nothing to do with traditional Lenormand but are made-up nonsense.]It certainly doesn't seem like Josten actually uses the Lenormand cards, but more like he has poorly digested a few contradictory books and then added personal ruminations on the symbolism. This, despite the fact that Lenormand is not a symbolic system like Tarot, but rather an emblematic one. There is no direction for reading the classic Grand Tableau spread - just a diagram. Cards in examples for the shorter spreads are read singly, with position meanings, like Tarot, rather than in combination the way Lenormand is normally understood. For Josten, Lenormand appears to be a simple-minded step-sibling to Tarot. The box cover is beautiful.

Perfect as they are!
I thought they would be the larger cards but they do a superb job. Thank you, I'm a happy camper!
