Favorite Cookbook!
This is the 2nd time Ive purchased this book. I received the book over 20 years ago as one of my beginning cookbooks. I highly recommend this book for any new people living out on their own. It has specific tools to use and how to make beginning meals to more advanced meals.

Better than the original
I'll start by saying I'm not thrilled with the recipe selection, but that's just because I have the 1989 version and I'm used to it. It's been my go-to cookbook for over 20 years. I thought this would be an updated version of my old favorite. It's not. There's not a whole lot of overlap in the new edition. I will very likely sell it because I don't need two general purpose cookbooks. But if this is your first cookbook you will love it!For starters, don't let the name Pillsbury fool you. While there's a hefty section on baking, most of the book is devoted to cooking. It's called the Complete Cookbook and it darn near is.It's in a 3-ring binder, so it lies flat or stands up. The recipes are clear. There are several pictures. Most of the recipes are simple, some tried and true, some a bit exotic, but nothing overwhelming. The biggest improvement from my point of view, in addition to the standard alphabetical index, are the the tabbed sections at the back. If you want seafood recipes, say, there's a tab for that with it's own index. Very handy. With the old edition, you could find the section easily enough, but then you had to page through it. Now you can just flip to the tab and everything's right there. Select the recipe and go to the page. Simple.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK COMPANY
Ordered this book as a replacement for same cookbook that is 20 yrs old and worn out. I highly recommend this company the book they sent me was in much better condition then described in ad. only difference was in ad it was listed as hard back , they sent loose leaf version that has even more content then hard back ,looks like it had just been released a short time ago instead of being 20 years old. will defiantly order from them again

The perfect cookbook
Pillsbury has great cookbooks.. But this one has everything you'll ever need in it and doesn't disappoint. I have several of their cookbooks. But this one is the fantastic! This cookbook is perfect for the first apartment, the young bride, someone who wants to learn how to cook, someone who wants to improve their cooking, someone who just wants the perfect cookbook handy or to complete a cookbook collection!! This has everything you'll ever need. From simple, easy to follow recipes, meat roasting and cooking timetables to the little bit more complex recipes and ethnic recipes too... Its easy to read and follow instructions with beautiful photographs of the dish. All recipes are divided into sections like menu ideas, breads, soups and stews, pork and lamb, salads, vegetables and sides, cookies and candies, fish and shellfish, poultry, vegetarian cooking and lots more!! This cookbook is great all by itself or a great addition to a cookbook collection. It IS the perfect cookbook for everyone!

Disappointing
This does not have the variety of basic, essential cooking information that the Betty Crocker cookbook has. I would recommend that one instead.

Best Cookbook for New Cooks
I absolutely love this book and I think it's the perfect gift for a novice cook. I got my copy about 10 years years ago when I first moved out on my own and it really helped me learn how to prepare lots a delicious meals from scratch. The recipes are simple and the ingredients are accessible so there's no trying to track down exotic spices or rare foods, and the instructions are easy to follow. The breakdown of cooking terms, the glossary, and the random tips providing things like instructions on how to do things like cut up a whole chicken are invaluable for a new cook who may not have been taught these things at home. I think anyone new to cooking would benefit immensely from this book and there's plenty of stuff to keep more skilled cooks entertained as well. A must have in every kitchen!

Tiny print (Harder to read)
A nice cookbook with lots of pictures. Smaller in size than the old-fashioned ones from the 60’s & 70’s. The only thing I didn’t like was the printing ( letters) was quite tiny. I’m not sure if they make one with Larger Print? If you are an older person, you might want to look for a Larger Print one.

Useful?
It's kind of basic... I tried to look up two different thing that I would have figured would be in every cook book and it didn't them in it.. When finally I made something from it I felt it would have been better store bought from a box mix. It's useful, but I dunno... meh...
