Hot Rod Hamster

To be honest I didn't "get" this book at first but after several reads with my four year old son I now understand why he loves it. The animal characters are cute but there's also an interactive component where your child can choose their favorite item and you can both discuss, etc. Makes for cute bedtime story.

We love this book! We even bought one for my daughter’s classroom because they have a class hamster. Fun story, fun rhyming, perfect for new readers.

My son has loved Hot Rod Hamster Monster Truck Mania since he was about 2 - I read in crazy voices and this book is just as great as Monster Truck for fun reading aloud and sparking fun conversation.

We first checked this book out from the library, and my boys (ages 2 and 3) couldn't get enough. After renewing the book from the library several times it was clear we should just buy it. I can see them enjoying this book for years.The words are catchy and engaging ("Great day, grin day, build a car to win day") and the story is uniquely entertaining (A hot rod for a hamster? Who would think it would be so fun?). My boys like to say the words along with me and the race at the end is always greatly anticipated. They also like the "What would you choose?" parts where they can pick what they would want for a hot rod. I don't buy kids books unless I love them (or my kids do and I can tell it's a good book), and this one's a keeper.

My 3 YO son absolutely loves Hot Rod Hamster! We have one other book too; HRH-Monster Truck Mania. They are fun books that engage him with colorful illustrations, and by asking the reader "which would you choose?" His favorite part is choosing!! It's not your typical storybook either. Although there is a story being told, it's not in the traditional sense. Most of it is through dialogue between the characters... think those little bubbles in comics that show what a character is saying or thinking. It really is a fun way to tell a story and kids love it!!

Cute book my seven year old brother loved. The illustrations are really vivid and beautiful and the story was entertaining. There are also many other books about this cute little hamster that any child will love.

My three year old loves this book. Nice pictures. Catchy rhythmic text. Also slightly interactive as she asks the child which one they would choose. We had this from the library and had to buy our own copy when we returned it. The other books in the series are great too.

This book is a classic. The kids love coming up with ideas on how they will decorate the hot rod. They love the hamster. Cynthia is a fabulous author and Derek Anderson has included beautiful illustrations on a book that is of very high quality. Can't wait to see more of these books.

Bought this for our baby. Only purchased because my fiance builds hot rods, didn't know if it would be any good... WE LOVE IT! Baby is not even here yet and me and my fiance have read it to each other a few times and answer the "which would you choose?" haha! Definitely will be buying the other ones!

item was in good/fair condition, had one ripped page (fixable with tape), plastic cover sheet was worn, and cover had library stickers / stamps. still good value. great book.
