A Great Resource for the Undergraduate Chemist
A very useful and easy-to-follow introductory text, written with the aim of approaching analytical concepts in a problem solving way. Disclaimer: Mike and Hywel were two of my lecturers at university, but if the book sucked I would say!

Good if you want to learn about uses of various techniques but does not explain any in depth
This gives a good explanation of a wide variety of analytical techniques. Whilst it doesn't go into much depth on any given technique it is good as you can use it to find out the uses of specific techniques and see how to use different techniques work together and follow the 6-step method to identify an unknown sample. Lots of examples are given.Other good books for analytical chem:If you want an introductory text, Duckett, Cockett and Gilbert's 'foundations of molecular structure determination' is an excellent introductory text for Rotational and Vibrational spectroscopy, NMR, MS, UV-Vis and X-Ray techniques. If you want a detailed textbook for a specific technique read an Oxford primer for example for NMR Dr Iggo's 'NMR spectroscopy for inorganic chemistry' is excellent.

Good book
Bought for my forensic course at uni it’s okay for a required reed however the examples and question give are a bit pointless and are on every other page so if possible use a library copy.
