Will it hold folded walking poles?

Don't know never tried it. If they fit then no reason why not but no padding anywhere in bag so could be uncomfortable if carried on your back for long period.

Would anyone trust this lightweight bag with a 2.5kg laptop?

A heavyweight laptop is probably the lightest of many things I stuff in this bag. I'd forgotten it's supposed to be light weight because of the junk I haul around in it every day. I'd forgotten too that it folds into its own front pocket, because it's been my daily everything but kitchen sink bag for months

Would this be too big for kids to take camping? 6/7 year old boys

My granddaughter is six and fairly tall. She tried it and as it has a front fastening across chest found it okay. It measures 45cm long by 30 cm across approx and is very comfortable and lightweight.
