A good overview and introduction
I understand the previous commentators reservations, but they seem to be looking too deeply into the issue. This is a fun children's book to get kids interested in a topic they may never study themselves. It has very good facts presented in a way that will keep the interest of the kids.If you're looking for a serious book, this isn't it. This is a fun, lighthearted examination of a subject for children.I used this with my fourth graders and it led us to some wonderfully deep conversations about the reasons people move and the effect it has on both the migratory and those already here.

Get your facts straight! Ethhnic cleansing of Ireland!
First of all, let me start by saying how crude of a line of books that Scholastic is publishing. I am really disappointed in the perpetuation of disrespecting nationalities by this line of books. As being of Irish decent, I did a little investigating and found the real reason for the potato famine and the fleeing from Ireland by the Irish. This travesty lies on the shoulders of the English and the genocide of my people by them. This is more commonly known as the "Irish Holocaust". The English came and raped and pillaged my country for the greedy profits of their king. They used up their resources and came to Ireland and stole Irish crops leaving the potato as the only food source, and when the potato crops failed, the Irish fled to the United States for survival; however, they were treated less than human. So in turn they moved inland to start anew. My ancestors settled in the Midwest and were poor farmers who worked the land and gained their own sense of self worth and family lineage. Now, we are being persecuted again by the lies being taught to our children in the form of children's books that are not even true. These books are not based on historical fact but loosely based on biased interpretations. This is a serious matter that is being trivialized in a comic book form. How would the Jews feel if the holocaust was trivialized in this manner? They would not tolerate it, so what makes it acceptable to ridicule the history of other nationalities? There is a mural in Ireland, dedicated to over 1,500,000 Irish who were killed at this time. It is called: Ireland's Holocaust mural on the Ballymurphy Road, Belfast. "An Gorta Mór, Irish genocide by starvation at the hands of the English. Ireland's Holocaust 1845-1849."

Not for the age-group
This was a disappointing purchase. It does not have good content for the young which it presumably was written for.
