Pastoral Care of the Sick gives patients new Hope.
This book works well when you visit a patient in the Hospital or at home. Eucharistic Ministers will have the proper prayers and readings for an uplifting visit that restores hope in the patient. My Favorite reading Hebrews 4:14 (the first paragraph) is included in this book and has great effect on my patients. I have discovered that other versions of Prayers for the Sick do not include this simple bible verse so I recommend this 1983 version of Pastoral Care. (T-156) This book is very helpful for Priests and lay ministers.

Responses are not updated.
This book is more for an ordained priest than an extra-ordinary minister for Holy Communion to the sick. Cool to see the prayers and the rites the priest will use for Anointing the Sick. This book was before the Third Edition of the Roman Missal so the responses are outdated. It is a good book for greater insight into this ministry though, and I have used it. You just have to remember that the responses are not the current responses per the GIRM. Also, Anointing of the Sick is a Sacrament that only a priest or bishop can administer.

sorry
I was disappointed as it does not use the new Roman Missal translation. You should state that it is the same 1074 issue with new look.

Excellent reference and guide
This is a very comprehensive book for its small size and should be very helpful for any priest or even lay person interested in these rites. My only complaints are that I wish it were black instead of green and it would be nice if it were a bit smaller so it would more easily fit into a pocket.

My Deacon loved the leather book
My Deacon loved the leather book. Only comment was that some of the prayers needed the newer wording. He said he would work around it.

Pastoral Care of the Sick (Pocket Size)
This little book is a 'must-have' for Roman Catholic priests who invariably will come into contact with the sick, the dying and the dead. It has special prayers for all these situations, including the Rites for the administration of the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. It fits nicely into the glove compartment of any car - so it is always available when out-and-about. I strongly recommend this 'Pastoral Care of the Sick'.
