Laurie articulates massive amounts of information in brief, readable text that should be read by everyone - particularly up-and-coming generations. Esterhauz' photos are wonderful, too. Laurie mentions the loss of wildlife in East Africa over the past 25 years. That is about the time I was in Kenya and shocked by the low numbers - particularly elephants - after growing up on Martin & Johnson travelogues showing massive herds of hundreds of elephants at a time. I don't think I ever saw more than 20 at a time in 1988. To think half of those are gone is SO depressing! PLEASE, let's all be aware of what we are doing to our amazing planet.

Beautiful book with an urgent and timely message. Cheetahs, one of the most intriguing of the big cats, are experiencing a serious decline in numbers. Loss of suitable habitat may be fatal. If wildlife is the thing that draws you to Africa, go soon or there might not be anything left to see. And thanks to the authors for pointing out how tourism is dangerous to the animals, and how to minimize your footprint.

I loved the book!

My daughter has been waiting for this book. This is everything you wanted to know about cheetahs yet completely understandable for non-experts like us. The pictures are amazing.

Gift for my boyfriend. He was thrilled to get this book. Great book for big cats/Cheetah lovers or anyone interested in animal conservation. Lots of beautiful photos!
