Pros and Cons to this, but overall Positive!
My cat has now been using it for 2 months, so I believe this is a significant amount of time passed to write an honest review of the product.Pros - Made well (Nice strong & thick Plastic), Litter crystals absorb smells well, Looks good, Has nice high walls so cats cannot flick bits outside the tray easily, Scoop included is sturdy, strong and cleans well, Comes with 1 bag of crystals and a pee pad!First off, I love how strong and well made this thing is. It doesn't look ghastly or out of place in the modern home. It's a lovely chunky-style matte grey in two shades with exit tracking vents at the front, and has three pieces which make up the whole (The open-topped lid, the ventilated floor level, and the pee pad level). My cat adapted to it straight away. She's a clever and tiny 5 year old. So my review is based upon her solely using it individually. The high walls are a huge pro, as when I gave her a shallow tray, she literally tips all the litter out of the sides and there were large piles of wood pellets, or clay on the floor that looked like maybe we had a visit from a group of moles several times every day. The litter crystals themselves do not get flicked out while the cat is using the toilet - however my cat jumps out with crystals stuck to her feet and they end up on the floor this way.The litter crystals are genius at absorbing the moisture out of nasties to take away any smells which would normally linger. The thing I have learnt, is this takes a little bit of time for the crystals to do their thing, so don't expect an instant result of no odour. Usually within 10-20 minutes the smell is gone. Additionally, the better the cat buries their little nasties, the better it will be at the absorption and eliminating of smells.Pee pad drawer is easy to access and change. All that needs to be done is to fold the pad up, and then that encapsulates the wet/damp crystals and you can throw it in the appropriate waste bin with little to zero mess on the floor. The litter box comes with a nice large curved scoop (not a cheap feeling one) that actually has a little hook for you to add to any wall or flat surface that it can securely adhere to. The hook is separate in the box, and not an integrated part of the scoop itself. So no searching for the scoop when it's needed, as will always be hanging on the hook in the same place.Cons : There are litter crystals EVERYWHERE - Not even joking, the cat likes to sleep on my bed, and they are appearing on my bed. The little tracking vents at the front of the box do nothing to prevent this. If they even did, the cat would have to get out the toilet the same way every time it's used, which most cats won't, and will jump out any side, hence the shower of litter crystals within a metre radius, plus the bits stuck to her paws which end up literally everywhere she goes. I am constantly sweeping and hoovering multiple times on a daily basis because of this. It's not a massive problem , However the brand does claim the vents at the front would make the issue more manageable : "Keep Your Floors Clean – Anti-tracking grid captures litter from your cat’s paws as she exits the box and the high walls help keep the crystal litter inside the box". Sadly, my floors have never been dirtier - it makes the wooden floors sound crunchy when the crystals are stood on, and in turn feels dirty as these things get everywhere. I have purchased a tracking mat, so only time can tell if this would be a simple solution or not.The edges of the inner box are actually quite sharp. Be warned if you are scooping in the corners near the edges, my finger ran along one edge and it actually modestly skinned part of my finger. The price of the litter crystals is actually not bad when you break it down (and considering how well they work), but they definitely do not last a month. I have one cat, and after approximately two weeks, she will refuse to use the box anymore until it has been changed. I don't blame her either, as it changes from a nice vivid Blue to a dull grey and yellow colour.Cleaning is a little bit of a chore... the crystals get stuck in the vents at the bottom of the tray and do not budge with scrubbing or water pressure - I literally had to find a suitable sized DIY tack to poke through each individual hole and push them out. There are still a few crystals in the pee pad drawer grooves I could not remove sadly. The rest was easy to clean!Overall, a pretty good manually managed litter box. I prefer managing it, as I know how clean it is for her and ensure it's always empty. There's minimal components to clean, and daily maintenance is so minimal!
