other weather resistant designs are the other way around: you plug the cord into your mains outlet and the extension sockets are on the drum, so you have to take the drum to where you're working.this one, has a short flex (3m) to plug the drum into the mains and the cable on the drum has a waterproof socket on the end, which you reel out to where you're working. Much more convenient.

This is a really useful extension cable as it connects to any electrical item with a 3-pin plug (drill, lawn mower, strimmer, work-lamp etc). It is easy to wind and unwind the cable but you will need to hold the reel still with your other hand or a foot unless it is fastened to the wall. Some of the text in the advert seems to suggest the unit is weatherproof but this only applies to the 3-pin socket. It doesn't include an RCD, which would greatly improve the safety features, but this can be overcome by using an RCD at the power source.

Since the purchase of this product only use it about 5, 6 times.....First two times was fine, but after that it keeps cutting off........ can I do a exchange??

I've used this for many outdoor tasks to take Powe to power washer, vacuum cleaners, lawn mower, strimmer etc. Good length, strong reel and I expect it will last for years. Don't forget to take all cable off the reel when in use to prevent the spooled cable from heating.

I've been needing an extension lead for some time but was looking for the best one for safety. This one fitted the bill. It was very lengthy, fairly insulated for weather and tugging on the ground as well as a safety shut down and is on a strong spool. The only downside is that it does not have an automatic wind up button. Otherwise, felt very confident using it and recommend it.

Bought IP65 fully waterproof for use with hot tub and for tools being used outside.Received IP64 standard cable stating do not use in damp or wet conditions

Absolutely shocking to reel back in, terrible design and construction. Looks good in theory but does not work

I love the high visibility of the cable: a great safety feature. The pop out handle makes it easy to wind back up - but it's a good idea to do this on the floor (not wall mounted) as you can position yourself behind it and feed the cable onto the spool with your spare hand. I found putting a foot on the bottom framework helpful in keeping it still.We've used this repeatedly during this summer and it's been great. However, whilst I bought it because it said it was waterproof, the instructions actually instruct you not to use it in wet or damp conditions. Having said that, using anything electrical in the rain is a dangerous. We've used it in the evening with the strimmer, along a river bank, where grasses and nettles had taken over since lockdown. So, we've used it consistently for 3 hours at at time and all is well, even across slightly damp soil.The advert said it was 3 gang, yet there is only one socket. This socket is safely enclosed in a hub at the end of the wire. We really like the fact that the cable reel remains in the garage and it's just the wire we pull out. The only drawback is that the instructions tell you to unravel the entire 30m cable before use. Still, if you habitually didn't need this length, then you'd just use a shorter extension cable in the first place.
