Legere Bb Clarinet Signature 2.75

Good substitute to traditional reeds
I switched to a 2.75 from a Vandoren V12 2.5. It’s taken a bit of getting used to (about 6-7 one hour practice sessions) but I’m getting to like it a lot. I’ve only had it for about a month but so far I’m impressed.

Brilliant alternative to wooden reeds
Good value for money, arrived quickly. Legere reeds are a brilliant alternative to wooden reeds, which loose tone over time. Very durable, produce great, bright sound.

Consistent and hassle free reed
These seem expensive, but I pick them up on Amazon Warehouse which makes them much better value. When I originally started playing nearly 40 years ago they were not an option, so now I've returned to the clarinet it's fun to try out the latest gadgets. In terms of sound quality, you will probably get a better sound out of the right reed, if you spend the time finding it, adjusting it and ensuring it's moist enough. But then that reed will need replacing and you'll have to go through the process again. This reed gives you a consistent sound every time, straight from the box, which means one less factor to worry about (or to put the blame on!) when practising or performing. It's also nice that they come in 1/4 strengths.I do find that the reed can become 'clogged' with saliva after playing for a while and occasionally needs to be removed and cleaned to get a clean sound, but it's become my standard reed.Definitely something every clarinet player should at least be trying.

Poor sound quality, doesn't come close to a cane reed.
About 5 years ago I started playing Legere European Signature Cut clarinet reeds and found that strength 2.75 worked well on my Vandoren M30 Lyre mouthpiece. They worked so well that they sounded almost as good as a a good cane reed. I used them in concerts and was congratulated on my tone. I tried to purchase another one recently and found that Legere no longer make a European Signature model and now offer a two new models which they have named European Cut and Legere Signature. I bought one of each and am very disappointed with them. The tone of both reeds is so poor that I will not be using either of them, not even for practice.
