I've been buying cheap backpacks since college, and finally decided I wanted something that'd be nice, durable, and stand the test of time. This backpack uses a nice, durable fabric, and has good, solid zippers. I also like it because it's the perfect size to fit a 13" MacBook, an 11" iPad, 1-2 books or a light jacket. Very compact, but uses its space efficiently and looks/feels great.

This is such a great backpack! Excellent Samsonite quality, thoughtful construction and compartments. It's a perfect backpack for everyday use - which is what I bought it for. It is a small backpack. It easily carries my daily essentials, including my 13" MacBook - in a specific section of the bag, with soft fabric interior as an extra layer of protection. (This bag is designed to hold - at maximum - a 14" laptop. It is much too small for anything larger.) There is also a compartment for an iPad or tablet, up to 10" - and this pocket is also lined with soft fabric for extra protection. There are great spots for cards, keys, pens, etc. In my daily use since receiving it, it's proven to be great. It sits very well on the back, the weight is very balanced (evenly distributed), the shoulder straps are well constructed and very nicely padded. It is a very easy pack to carry. The padded handle on the top of the bag is nicely substantial, making it very easy to hold while on - for example - public transit. This bag is waaaay less intrusive into the space of others. The bottom of the pack is well constructed, and has a very waterproof protective layer. I really like the charcoal grey-black colour. It's nice to have a work backpack that isn't standard black. And my pins "pop" with the charcoal background. (Very important detail. 🤣🤣 I liked the blue colour a lot, but with fluctuating pricing I opted for the charcoal colour, because it was ½ the price of the blue one at the time of purchase. I feel I got a great deal, for the Samsonite quality. The day I bought it, it was $55 CDN. When I saved the item it was nearly $140, I watched it for a long time because that price was beyond my budget. (As of 07 November 2020, the price had dropped even more, into the mid-high $40s, which is a bargain! (And I am a bit bummed I could have gotten it for an even lower price had I waited a wee bit longer. So patience paid off for me... though I constantly worried it would go out of stock. LOL! The blue rarely came down in price, and had an initial cost near $170 CDN. Which, yeah... no. Definitely budget un-friendly if this is as much of a concern as it is for me.) Today, I carried with me my computer, a big file folder of documents, a 300 page book, my water bottle, wallet (small, 5" x 5" square), keys, cosmetics bag (small, 8" by 3" approx.) a moleskin pocket-sized notebook, two pens, snacks, and my EPI Pen. Today was warm and lovely. I got warm in my lightweight waist-length cardigan, and lightweight long cotton scarf. I took both of these off, rolled them up, and they fit in the bag. I also had to pick up some medication at the pharmacy (so a smaller bag), which I fit in too. The backpack was at capacity - but it was so comfortable and held exactly what I needed it to. Maybe that's TMI, but i hope it gives you an idea of the space available. My one quibble (it's minor, and I purchased with the knowledge this bag doesn't have one) is that there is no side pocket for a water bottle. My bottle fits easily into the main compartment, but would be a huge bonus to have an external space for that. But, as I said, this is very minor. Overall the backpack is fantastic, and I am very happy with it. This is definitely a work/commuter/daily backpack, and - for me - is really perfect for these uses - depending on what you need with you each day, there would be room for a lunch bag. But it is a very compact and efficiently designed Backpack. Pretty minimal footprint. If you are expecting a bigger backpack and didn't take in the noted dimensions in the product description, you might be surprised by its small size. It's certainly *not* a 15L, or 20L bag with a ton of room. For travel, I think most people would find it too small, and it would really limit what you are able to carry-on with you.
