Well written, fun to read
We borrowed this book from our local library but loved it so much we wanted to buy our own copy. The story is well written with an interesting story and good rhythm/rhyme to make it easy and fun to read and listen to. Very similar to Julia Donaldson in that way.A firm favourite for our 3yr old boy and us parents too!

Great Twist on a Fairy Tail
I bought this book for my 5 year old daughter as I had booked to see a children’s musical that is based on it.We both love this story and have read it several times. We love how it is a modern twist on a fairy tail, where the princess sets about trying to work out why the Giant is angry and noisy. It is lovely to see a Princess being brave and solving things in a story. The illustations are really lovely too.We will be looking out more of these books.

Another Sure Fire Winner by Hart and Warburton
Another sure fire winner by author Caryl Hart and illustrator Sarah Warburton (the team behind The Princess and the Peas and The Princess and the Presents). It's great to see a picture book over-running the normal 1,000 word length at approximately 1,300 words. Older children (5-6 years) tend to enjoy a longer picture book, so well done publishers Nosy Crow for pushing that boundary. The tale revolves around Princess Sophie and her need to get a loud, stompy giant to sleep. He's keeping the whole kingdom awake at night but Sophie uses her book of fairy tales to figure out how she can settle him down before her parents send in the soldiers. Delightfully illustrated.

Brilliant story and quietly quashes gender stereotypes (mother chops the wood, father makes the porridge, princess rides her bike like every princess should...). Kids love it, I love reading it!
