The Spiffiest Giant in Town Review: Such a cute story! - There's something about the illustrations that is just so unique and I love it. Such a sweet bedtime story with a bit of rhyme. Review: Such a fun book to read - George was a giant, the scruffiest giant in town...until he decided to make a change. He's exceptionally proud of his new look but as he goes through his day, he finds there's alot of animals who need his help! George quickly realises that he can fix all their problems... but at a cost! This books is one of the many Donaldson books we own and they are all extremely fun to read for adults and kids alike! I love the illustrations and all the animal characters we meet along George's journey! Also love George's kind ways!

Most beautiful book about kindness
This was and still is one of our family's favorite books of all time. It is a sweet story of being kind and selfless to strangers. Sometimes you can give everything, even the clothes off of your back to others who need it more than you do. However, it also addresses how one must be appreciative and grateful to that person who made the kind gesture and how that makes the giver feel. My kids are now 12 (son) and 14 (daughter) and are supposedly "too cool", but they still humor me when I ask them if they'd like to read "baby books" when they know I just want to snuggle. This is always one of the books they choose :)

Our favorite book!
This is perhaps our favorite book! My kids love it, and there are so many fun voices (and singing) you can do to make it a great read. We love Julia Donaldson books!

Toddlers are obsessed with this book
My kids love Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. Like, everything they do, my kids can't get enough of. They love the short little movies of their work, they love the illustration style and all the silly little elements Mr. Scheffler sneaks in. They love the story lines, the rhythm. And this book they maybe like most of all. Maybe it's because I made up a tune to sing when the giant is singing his little song? But regardless, this book is a hit at our house. I like it, because I feel like it aides me in teaching them the importance of sharing and generosity, as well as the idea that material items aren't the most important things in life. It's a lofty concept for toddlers. But it's a good launching point.

Une super belle histoire, un trait d’humour et de belles illustrations, ma fille a adoré l’histoire ! Même à 2 ans, elle a écouté attentivement grâce au jeu de répétition dans les pages ! Top !

My son is now 27 months old, and his language is continually improving. He doesn't understand every word and story I read, and can get bored of long passages of text (even in his favourite Thomas books!) but he really appreciates rhythm and rhyme in a story. I decided, after seeing a couple of her books last year, that now would be a good time to try Julia Donaldson. The story is simple enough - a giant tires of wearing the same old raggedy clothes and decides to smarten himself up with a new outfit. He is very pleased with his smart, new look. However he gives away the new clothes item by item in order to help others less fortunate than he, until his new outfit is almost gone! What will he do without it? Now this story is not written in completely the same style as her other books we have read - there is not the same emphasis on rhyming couplets throughout the story (aside from the Giant's Song which is developed throughout the book). However there is a beautiful rhythm all through the book, and it relies on a simple theme - "It's not what you look like, it's what's inside that counts". Educationally, there are a variety of animals to meet, each item of clothing plays a part and some interesting situations are come across, all in a very entertaining manner. My son also gets worried for the poor mice who have lost their house - a good sign that he is engaged in the story. All in all a lovely book, ideally for a child over 2. (*Note: this book contains no Giant Nudity, and is suitable for little giants.)
