works great!
The original unit I received did not work, but a person at the company patiently helped troubleshoot the problem...a defective Y-cable. He shipped me a new unit totally free of charge and the new one works perfectly. Now my universal remote is truly universal....no more reaching for the firestick remote!!! Here's my original review.....Using a Harmony 665 remote set up exactly as per instructions. No response at all. Turned off USB debugging as suggested, still nothing. Long time, confident user of Harmony remotes. FireStick is not a newer one that apparently can cause issues. I can't recommend this set up at all. Really disappointed because I wanted it to work so badly.

Horrible product. Freezes and just does not work!
Where do I begin? I wish I could give this a zero star rating. No phone technical support to resolve issues with this horrible product. Only email. Product would freeze when receiving signals. I had to unplug at least 10 times before I gave up and requested return and refund. You are forced to pay shipping to return the item and did I mention there is no one to call? Only email and responses can take days. Looking for a good product and after sale support? Look elsewhere and save yourself a major headache and frustration. The product doesn't work to control the Fire Stick with IR commands. Horrible experience and I am amazed Amazon lets this product be sold. Disappointed that this poor product in still for sale.

Works as Expected with One Major Caveat
Product works as expected, but the USB data can be overwhelmed (locking up the IR receiver with a solid blue light) if you try using a hardwire ethernet adapter in line with the IR receiver. Attaching the add-on adapters in either order did not change anything, this IR receiver requires that the Firestick I have use WiFi as the link to the internet. My Firestick is the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K (newest model 2024) with AI-powered Fire TV Search and Wi-Fi 6. I have no experience with the included OTG cable as I heeded the advice in other reviews and opted to buy a different cable (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FY9Z9GD?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title). The key mapping on the URC system I am using (very similar and partially plagierized from a previous review) is as follows;Up (FireTV) = UP (Xbox 360)Right (FireTV) = RIGHT (Xbox 360)Down (FireTV) = DOWN (Xbox 360)Left (FireTV) = LEFT (Xbox 360)OK (FireTV) = OK (Xbox 360)Back (FireTV) = B/LIVE TV (Xbox 360Home (FireTV) = XBOX (Xbox 360)Menu (FireTV) = Y/GUIDE or Guide (Xbox 360)Skip Back (FireTV) = REW<< (Xbox 360)Play/Pause (FireTV) = PLAY (Xbox 360)Skip Forward (FireTV) = FWD>> (Xbox 360)Closed Captioning (FireTV) = PAUSE (Xbox 360) twiceIn addition, the following codes also have the intended effect, without buttons on the FireTV remote.Chapter Skip Forward (FireTV) = >I SKIP (Xbox 360)Chapter Skip Back (FireTV) = I< REPLAY (Xbox 360)STOP (Xbox 360)0-9 (Xbox 360)

Tricky to set up but extremely helpful
I bought this to (finally) control my Firestick with a Harmony remote. The flimsy Y-cable broke when inserting a micro-USB connector during one of my many connection attempts, and tge IR receiver easily loses its cap (lost star). Any replacement micro-USB Y-cable will do for this to work, HOWEVER I discovered that the remote IR reveiver somehow did not work with the original (grey) Firestick micro-USB charging cable that I had used. I suspect that cable also transmits data, and somehow messes up what the IR receiver tries to do. What you need is a very basic, charging-only USB power cable. For those of you mapping XBox360 commands for the Firestick: X: menu, B: back, GuideXBox: Home (hold it to send your Firestick to sleep); up, down, left, right, OK, rewind/fast forward work. Note that the IR receiver works on many devices (such as a PC, or a Dreambox) as a simple USB device.

Works for what it was designed for.
So, for starters, this kit does exactly what it claims to do. It’s great at it actually. This comes with a BIG HOWEVERNot the fault of Inteset, but NEWER gen Firesticks have issues. I have both an older gen Firestick and a newer gen that has volume control on the remote. The older one works PERFECTLY with this kit, but the newer one has issues. It will accept a few commands then if you watch the light on the receiver, it basically locks up. It’s not the fault of the receiver. I’ve figured out that a lot of data passes through the Firesticks usb bus even when not in use. This causes the bus to run at max capacity whenever you do anything with the Firestick. Not an issues with the original remote because it’s not usb, but with this design flaw, it makes it hard to use a usb ir receiver.Again, this isn’t a problem on older gen Firesticks. Works perfectly. It’s only an issues with the newer gen Firestick. Idk if this is on purpose from amazon or just a design flaw but it severely hampers usb performance.

Y cable failed
I bought eight sets of these to control my 4K Firesticks with a universal IR remote. The reason for these is my house has a whole house audio amplifier and HDMI ARC or CEC doesn't work to control volume only IR. This was the simplest solution. I used my JP1.X software (Remote Master) to program my URC remotes using the special Xbox protocol. Things functioned for the first day or so, but then the USB IR receiver would have a solid blue light and wouldn't respond to the remote. A simple power reboot (unplug y-cable) resolved it. This started happening on my other TVs. I noticed a couple of the y-cables getting hot and melting the housing where the circuit resides. I contacted Inteset and then set a couple replacements, but they too locked up as well after a couple days. I contacted them again and they said they have sold 10000 of these without issues. Why now? I ended up buying eight simple OTG cables (4 for $10) and swapped out the Interset y-cables. So far I haven't had any issues. The USB IR modules work fine with this setup. Another note. I also tried 2A USB adapters in place of the 1A units provided with the Firesticks. The Inteset y-cables still failed. In summary, USB IR modules good. Y-cables junk. Buy the USB IR cables separately.
