Guerlain Shalimar Ode A La Vanille Eau De Parfum Spray, Limited Edition, 1.7 Ounce

With all these reformulations of Shalimar (Remember Chanel No. 5 got caught not telling consumers about reformulation... but fest-up finally that added more notes to appeal to younger generation... Naughty! to do that. Back fired.) Just feel Shalimar should fest-up too as I have an older one of EDT that wears like EDP. So delightful. I went with a newer Shalimar in EDP. Gone within 3 hours. The dry-down was stale. OK! One more try! Ode a la Vanille! That Shalimar of days gone-by was there and didn't go too past it with the extra Vanilla from Mexico (Known as best Vanilla in world.) There is little something else in citrus family I can't put my finger on.) ... Now lets talk about the longevity... Spritzed on in morning after shower. Into evening was still there. At least 12 hrs+. I read somewhere that Jade Jagger who designed bottle had input on fragrance too (said to be her Mom's favorite fragrance., Shalimar. Sure Bianca Jagger gets only the pure parfum).... Only issue is wish base was larger. When one sets down, if not with care, if goes off to its side. Flask style. Kind of need two hands to spritz. Not complaining but please don't discontinue this one. HUGE MISTAKE FOR SHALIMAR IF THEY DO. Cudos to Perfumers on this one. It's a keeper. JUST DON'T MESS WITH FORMULA IF COMING OUT WITH LONGER TERM BEYOND LIMITED EDITION.

I couldn't decide if I liked the regular Shalimar, but vanilla does well on my skin so I gave this a shot, and I was not disappointed. I'm having a hard time accepting that it is limited edition and I can't make this my everyday fragrance. It smells so warm and sweet on me.

I cannot say enough about this parfum, It so much lighter than the regular Shalimar, people always tell me how wonderful I smell. I shouldn't share how great it is, that way I would smell better than everyone else (lol) but, I do not want to be selfiest so it's Great! Thanks for reading my review. 69 Geogirl

I get complements on this perfume all the time. It smells more like incense than vanilla, when it fades it smells very earthy with a little bit of vanilla.

I have never tried this fragrance. Being a Shalimar devotee since I was 14 (yes I said 14) I am always hesitant to buy other fragrances. Mostly because, well, I just don't like the way they smell. I did use Lancôme's "Tresore" (sp.ck.) for a short time because of the vanilla notes which I love and must have in a fragrance. Being that they named this "Ode A La Vanille" one would assume it would have MORE lasting vanilla notes. From the reviews here I'm guessing that's not the case. Now for how I fell in love with Shalimar at 14. I was babysitting for a single Mother one night and when she came from the bedroom and crossed the living room I thought I was smelling what heaven might be like. I had to know. What was this magical elixir she had dabbed on her skin? So I couldn't help myself from asking. " What is THAT PERFUME you're wearing? It smells sooo good on you!" She smiled with delight and replied "it's called Shalimar. Have you ever heard of it?" I replied " NO. I've never even heard of it. I'm wearing "Oh de London" by Yardley. ( a favorite of teenagers back in the early 70's along with Slicker lipstick) She led me into her bedroom and handed me her beautiful bottle of Shalimar and told me this was what she was wearing and if I ever wanted to sneak into her bedroom while she was out I could use it. That was 44 years ago. So do the math on how old I am now and still in love with Shalimar.
