FlashQ Q20II (Black)

First off, if you’re wondering if it works with Leica Q2 cameras, it does. 2nd, this flash offers a lot of value for the money. It’s a on camera flash, the unit can be detached from the hotshoe and it becomes a wireless off camera flash. The unit is also a solid video light and it gets pretty bright. Comes with gels so you can experiment with different colors. Overall, it’s a pretty solid package. Doesn’t add much weight to camera. It runs on double A batteries but be sure to get rechargeable Ni-MH batteries so you use the included micro usb for charging. If I can offer feedback to manufacturer: include usb c in a future update.

Needed a discrete little flash for my tiny Ricoh GRII camera to photograph a Swing Party I was invited to. This was perfect. I could switch it from a steady light to flash with the flip of a switch in the back. The light wasn't blinding or obtrusive when it flashed. I wasn't Bruce Gilden or Michelle Groskopf. I was trying to be a fly on the wall as much as possible and brought this along just in case they turned the lights way down, which they did at one point so that's when I whipped this out. Just bring extra AA batteries.

Great product for what it is, very functional and versatile. Lots of pieces you could lose, but comes with a bag. Reasonably priced for what it does. Buttons have a great feel to them on the flash unit. The receiver unit has tiny on/off button that is hard to use with the fingernail though. This is a tool of necessity (when you need a flash and don’t have one) though, and does a lot, for its compact size, so I’m very happy with it. Good form factor and very light weight.

My q20II transmitter is dead and the flash has not been used much. And It seems if you want to buy a t2 transmitter replacement, you have to pay a receiver at the same time. I wish this manufacturer can change its mind. Been waiting them so long and still no offer of a transmitter alone. What kind of business this brand is running. I wish I can give them a no star rating.

The look and build of this thing is fairly nice, especially for the price: it's light (a little heavier with batteries, but not bad), it does have the cool built-in and detachable transmitter base, and based on some limited and non-scientific testing the flash intensity seems to be OK (maybe better than OK, but again I'm not measuring with any sort of equipment). My main problem with this is that in a few days of playing with it I just never can predict whether pushing the shutter button is going to actually trigger the flash. I'm using it from an Olympus PEN-F body, which has always worked extremely reliably with my ancient Oly flash. I have no idea why it's having problems, but the fact that it is means that I'm most likely going to return it. If it did work, it'd be a nice gadget for the price. Update — I obtained a replacement for the first flash (probably not necessary). Same weird behavior. I was on the verge of returning it, but the behavior just wasn't making any sense to me so even while I was chatting with Amazon support I was trying to figure out what was going on. The Q20 has a couple of slave modes for *optical* slaving to another flash (first and second, pretty common). The state of that setting is reflected in a little LED next to the button that controls that feature on the flash. When the setting is red or green, it's set to be an optical slave. I now think that that was a key part of my misunderstanding: to whatever extent, that setting makes the camera hot shoe "fire" command work either not at all or erratically. With the flash set such that the slave light is completely dark, it works predictably in any camera mode, which makes sense because it's a dumb flash that's not supposed to have any idea what the camera is doing. I'm keeping this second one because even though it's not really a serious "pro" piece of equipment it seems like it might be super useful in some situations with the remote feature. Upping my rating to 4 stars because it's still a kind-of cheap thing and the user interface is variously weird. But not a bad purchase at all.

I'm new to working with manual flash so it's been a learning process. I bought this particular flash because of a youtube video I saw that sparked my interest. There are so many options out there and this one just seemed easy to use and powerful enough for me to practice on. The remote trigger works great on my Nikon and Olympus cameras. It's powerful enough for short distances 10-15 ft. which is the distances I am mostly at away from the subject. The controls are pretty straight forward to use and the build quality seems sturdy enough for a few bumps here and there and for regular use. I like that its portable and light. You can tilt the flash bulb to various angles and it's self supporting so you can set it on just about any surface. It also comes with several gels you can attach easily. I mostly photograph my family so I am not a professional in any way. It's a straight forward very simple flash which can be difficult for newbies or someone like me which is why I got it so i can learn how to use manual flash and improve my skills. I highly recommend it for amateurs. I doubt that this is sufficient for professionals. its fun to use and experiment with.

It is just super! The setup is easy, the controls are easy, It comes with a split USB charging cable, which allows you to charge both parts at the same time without digging for yet another cable. The range of flash power is quite wide. And one of the nicest things is the fact that they kept the shape boxy, instead of trying to be too fancy, rounding the edges and such. The result is an external flash the will sit almost anywhere in any direction or configuration. I have found everything in the description to be true. Nice unit! Kudos!

Small and very easy to use. Has worked well for me, for years, across multiple camera systems, particularly my Ricoh GRII. Some complain that this thing melts with heavy use, which may be true, but come on...it's like $90.

Il a 4 avantages majeurs, il est petit, inclinable, détachable avec une base émettrice qui permet de faire du déporté et il a une lampe pilote qui peut servir en solo ou en duo avec le flash. Petit plus supplémentaire, il se recharge sur USB. Je lui adjoint un déflecteur blanc pour les gens en nocturne ou pour deboucher une ombre.

I love this flash - so compact and doubles as a battery charger. No TTL, but that really doesn't matter for me and I use it with different camera systems anyway.

This is great small flash that you can use remotely. the only complain it’s manual and it does not support TTL.
