Plays high well but dirty and not light
I’ll start with the reasons why I returned it and then turn to better details. The product name is incorrectly written as “ Bach Trombone lacquer(LT190SL1B)”. It came as a trumpet. The LT designation means light but this trumpet is about the same as other trumpets weight just north of 2.4lb(1kg). That might be a light trombone but is normal weight for trumpet. The instrument seems to have passed from buyer to buyer on Amazon for a long time. The silver plating has many groups of very slight marks around the valve and tubing near there. I could not clean it off. Microfiber plus a bit of water, the marks are still there, a bunch of hairline widthed marks. Plus the out side of the bell is dirty. I washed it with soap and there just is some kind of white residue that doesn’t come off even after a very hot soapy water bath. My only conclusion is that this instrument is a sample that people returned many times on Amazon. I’ve a much cheaper silver plated trumpet that I play daily for a year and it doesn’t have this kind of dirtiness that I can’t clean off.On the other hand, this trumpet does live up to its hype—high notes are incredibly easy to play, the trumpet “responds faster” like they say on YouTube—you can really hear the difference when playing 16th or faster notes. I didn’t notice very significant volume changes resulting from the Large bore size, but by the same token, I don’t feel more tired playing with more air.One Caveat for the uninitiated, it comes with a very shallow 3E mouthpiece which will take getting used to, but more importantly, a lot of the benefits of this trumpet disappears when you don’t use the 3E mouthpiece. The quick response disappears with anything heavier. The high notes, the volume… it seems to be very sensitive to everything. This is definitely a very cool trumpet to be tried at music store. They might even be able to clean up this grime better than what we can do at home. But I am not keeping this particular one from Amazon.
