Can the RAVPower charger and batteries compete with Sony at a better price?
I specialize in reviews of tech accessories and am a well known professional photographer. RAVPower is one of the most reputable brands for lithium batteries, cables and chargers among pros not keen to pay the name brand prices. Sony’s batteries are first rate but more than double the price of RAVPower, a brand that road warriors trust when on assignment. Let’s see how RAVPower version of Sony NP-FZ100 batteries stack up against the Sony, and compare chargers, too:BATTERIES:Since Alpha series cameras come with just one Sony battery, I use it first and then move to the slightly lower capacity RAVPower. With this updated version, there are no compatibility issues--RAVPower is now compatible with Sony’s latest firmware. In the Sony A7R IV camera, I have not encountered error messages or problems with the remaining battery percentage display. With two 2000mAh batteries, the RAVPower is a tremendous buy. These have slightly lower capacity than Sony’s original 2280 mAh NP-FZ100 battery yet I find that they perform similarly. As you likely know, a higher mAh number equals a typically longer battery life.SIZE COMPARISON: RAVPOWER VS. SONY CHARGERS: (See photo)The Sony BC-QZ1 is reliable, but man is it thick and bulky. The Sony weighs 4.4 ounces while the RAVPower only weighs 1.8. For me, every ounce matters when on the road and carrying a heavy camera bag all day.CHARGING CONVENIENCE: RAVPOWER VS. SONY:Sony’s battery charger is an excellent performer but high priced and too thick and bulky to conveniently carry in my bag or take overseas on assignment. In search of a new charger for Sony NP-FZ100 batteries, I was attracted to the RAVPower for a couple of key features. First, it can charge two batteries at once. Second, it’s easier to stow and light weight.CHARGING SPEEDS: RAVPOWER VS. SONY:Like most third party chargers, the RAVPOWER is slower than the Sony BC-QZ1 but still quite good. The Sony charger will charge a depleted battery to 100% in 2:30 while the RAVPower completes the job in 3:20. I began by testing the original Sony battery and later tested RAVPower batteries. Here’s what I learned, using a depleted Sony battery for testing. I used the included micro USB to USB cable connected to the RAVPower QuickCharge 3.0 plug I use for my cellphone. In one hour, the RAVPower charged one Sony battery to 33%In two hours, the RAVPower charged the Sony battery to 66%In three hours, the RAVPower charged the Sony battery to 92%In 3:20, the RAVPower charged the Sony battery to 100%I also tested charging time with the RAVPower battery. It charges similarly and lasts about 90% as long as Sony in camera. I tested charging with one battery rather than two because as a professional photographer that’s a more likely real world scenario for all but the longest days. It’s rare I would deplete two full batteries before needing to recharge at night, but am glad the RAVPower charger has this capability should I need to.WHAT COULD IMPROVE?Although I used a Quick Charge 3.0 wall plug, it does not appear that this charger supports the faster charging protocol of QC 3.0. I hope that future versions of this charger will support it, and also include a second USB-C jack for faster Power Delivery charging, too. RavPOWER makes several good products supporting these next generation charging technologies, and I hope a faster charging option can become available for NP-FZ100 batteries, too.CONCLUSION:This RAVPower set is a winner for its reliability, compact size, light weight, and excellent value. I’m confident taking it overseas or across town for important assignments. The A7R IV camera I use is one of the few Alpha models that comes with the Sony charger included—it’s quicker but can only charge one battery at a time and is too bulky to lug around in the camera bag. The RAVPower gets five stars for real world use and I trust it.Hope this too long review has been of some small help as you create great images and video. HAPPY SHOOTING!

Works with A7 III FW 2.00
I was worried that there would be no work around for the new 2.00 firmware that pretty much disables the battery indicator with 3rd party batteries. Well, Ravpower seems to have figured out a way around and displays the battery percentage perfectly. The batteries have the same weight as the OEM battery, and though I haven't gone through an entire battery charge yet, they seem to discharge at about the same rate as the OEM Sony battery. I included a pic of the battery label in case you need to identify the one that works with FW 2.00.The dual charger is a little bit lightweight and feels totally hollow, but charges both batteries just fine and has an indicator that turns green when they are fully charged. Works with the included micro-USB cable (or you can use any cable you have available). Will update my review after a few months of use to see how these hold up.

Works perfectly with firmware 2.10 on Sony A7iii
Shows battery percentage with Sony A7iii firmware 2.10, and no warnings pop up when you turn on the camera. The batteries seem very solid and nicely built. I'm yet to test the battery life or charging performance but so far I played with it for a couple of minutes and they seem to have no issues. After a long research this are probably the best 3rd party batteries to get that are very close to OEM ones. Very satisfied with the purchase. The only thing that could be improved is if the charger had a usb C port instead of Micro usb but that's just a minor thing.

Great value for money. Issue with latest Sony firmware
The dual battery pack with charger by Ravpower is excellent value for money. I bought this after having fantastic experience with their NP-FW50 battery pack. Here is my experience using this with A7III1) Battery life: Lasts around 80% compared to original Sony battery. Pretty good2) Charging: One battery on the dual charger gets charged pretty fast. Both batteries take longer but the convenience is unbeatable3) Construction and packing is top notchIt’s unfortunate that with the latest A7III firmware update in Jan 2020, these batteries trigger an incompatibility warning every time with the camera. The warning can appear at any random time and not only when you start the camera. As a result, you can miss some critical shots because the warning has to be dismissed every single time. Also, the battery %age number is not displayed anymore. So I have returned this product for now, but I would rate it 4 out of 5 for offering great quality at an affordable price. I hope RavPower tech team can update the battery firmware to avoid the warnings on the latest Sony firmware.

Great Value for money
Instead of getting the expensive Sony BC-QZ1 single battery charger for A6600 ..this is much better alternative for half the price.Unlike the Sony charger, this is a dual battery charger and it comes with two batteries, which is a bonus.Have used it to charge the RavPower NP-FZ100 batteries and also to charge the original Sony NP-FZ100 batteries and both charge without any issues. The RavPower charger does not come with any Wall or Car USB adapter, but you can use your own generic ones. Great Value for money

Needs improvement
The same problem with when I bought the battery and charger for my Nikon. The charger doesn't have an indicator as to how many percents. You don't have any idea if it's full, halfway or whatnot. I SUGGEST TO ALL BUYERS TO BUY IT AND AFTER YOU RECEIVE IT BURN THE CHARGER OR SEND IT BACK WITHOUT THE BATTERY. IT'S CRAP. The reason for 5 stars is the value for money and great battery life.

NOT THE CHARGER IN THE PICTURE (NO USB-C)
- The charger you get is not the one in the pictures. It is a simple Micro USB charger with no battery level indicator and most importantly no USB type C. (See picture)- This battery is NOT compatible with the new a7S III. It will turn on the camera but you will constantly get a warning message (See picture). If you have a A7 III, it works fine.

great value!! charge holds OK so far
I have sony A7-III. firmware 3.01.These batteries work fine with this combo. Awesome value, WAY cheaper than sony oem. 65$ for two batts plus external charger, as opposed to 120$ for ONE sony battery and NO charger!!! Battery lasts almost as long but only time will tell if they hold charge as long as oem. Got them as backup batts and also i love the dual charger. charger does not come with power supply plug but thats ok -- just use any phone charger or the one that came with the sony camera.
