My dorm room doesn't have a kitchen in it and I really like to make food, so this is a really good item to buy if you're too lazy to walk across your dorm to the kitchen. Although it's nowhere near the same as a real stove, it gets the job done. Many of the items I cook take a bit longer in comparison to a real stove, but it's convenient which is its main use. It's also better if you have a smaller pan as larger pans don't necessarily fit and take longer to heat.

Never heated up hot enough to even boil a small 2 quart pot of water. Literally stood and watched it for 10+ minutes and the water got nowhere near a boiling point. If this truly is a 1000 W unit, it should definitely boil water.

This deserves 3.5 stars but I don’t have that option. THE GOOD: The item is compact and easy to travel with, does what it says it will do, has a sleek, aesthetically-pleasing design, easy to clean, reasonably durable, and has a good amount of length on the cord. Pretty quick cool-down. Perfect for camping with a portable source of electricity that can handle the plug size and energy consumption. Used for a makeshift mini-kitchen while renovating and it served its purpose. THE LESS GOOD: My only real complaint is that it takes a fair amount of time to heat. Notably longer than a standard gas or electric burner on a stovetop. Once it gets there- you’re golden. So if you need something for a small space that will fit in a tote bag but heat a full saucepan and don’t mind waiting a few minutes more for your meal, it’s great!
