Total Freedom: The Essential Krishnamurti

Unclassifiable
This is the first time I had read Krishnamurti, so I don't know how it compares to other compilations of his writings and discussions, but I can say that his is a beautiful mind. What he shares with his audience cannot be classified as doctrine or technique, but rather guidance on how to look for the truth. The teaching that initially resonated with me is his suggestion to start by observing yourself and your thinking, without judgment (good or bad), to really understand your thoughts and move beyond the series of events that you use to define "you." I found that the process of attentive observation is extremely powerful, dissolving the tensions I have built over time and revealing something truly beautiful and energizing. For those who want to explore his works before buying, there are websites with many of his "lessons." If these bits of information ring true to you, do yourself a favor and buy the book. One last word of advice: Krishnamurti does not offer packaged answers to life's questions like one finds with religion. His suggestions require serious effort by the reader to find total freedom.

Wide Open
Brilliant! Hard to describe this book as it is deep and ponderous and will turn your awareness of what you think "is" completely upside down. I love the musings of Krishnamurti and the glimpses into the world that he was seeing and how he describes it in such graceful ways. His was a spacious mind, or so it seems, and did not have the clutter of "foolish things" most of us fill our minds with. So refreshing to read these words from such spaciousness!

Really changed my perspective on many different things.
His view of the world is so fascinating. Growing up in the west, we are conditioned to believe certain ideas. He questions the many beliefs we have and introduces new ones.

Very astute and incredibly insightful
This man was unique among any other spiritual teacher...I don't even know if you can refer to him as 'spiritual' as he operates apart from such designations. It has been an adventure exploring his writings and You Tube videos. He speaks to a part of us that discerns truth. Otherwise hard to describe...I would call this wisdom: incisive.

Truth is a path less land
Many insightful thoughts about organized religion and the acquisition of truth as the eternal. I was also intrigued by his thoughts about the end of time (as in the end of the past, present and future as separate). A lot to think on. Overall, I found this book to be a wonderful introduction into the teachings of Krishnamurti.

The Awareness of Knowing
Krishnamurti goes to the heart of our everyday living and the problems we cause ourselves. No traditional Psychology is employed just our seeing the truth of what "really is", and the sense of freedom we receive when we truly understand ourselves. He is a master of awareness of the human mind and exposes the follies of everyday living that we constantly practice without really knowing why. Truth and Freedom go hand in hand and K shows the way by just asking us to Look and See.
