Stack-OnGCB-908 Steel 8-Gun Security Cabinet, Black

This cabinet arrived flawlessly. There were heavy duty plastic lined Styrofoam liners at each corner of the shipping box. The shipping box is quite thick cardboard that does a great job nestling the cabinet inside. The cabinet is inside packed like a big giant external USB drive. Can't complain about the state the item arrived. I would have probably done more damage buying it locally and driving it home in my SUV.The insides are a bit smaller than I expected, but I have never looked inside a gun cabinet before so that could be it. It comes with 2 gun rest bars(each has 3 slots) that you mount about 35 inches from the bottom so you can prop the barrels in there. I only have 2 long guns so I just mounted one of those I am using the cabinet for both guns and ammo (don't have the space for 2 units). Key is always on my key holder so no chance of anyone getting in without meven knowing. Other key is in the bank locker :). Ammo is stacked on one side and guns (in their gun socks) are propped on the other side.And that was the setup when I ran into a situation that could give you a very bad day.I started throwing everything gun related into the cabinet to keep it together. That unfortunately included my range bag. Did not notice that the range bag was awfully close to the locking mechanism. Last week the bag probably moved after I closed the door, and snagged in the locking mechanism. The cabinet refused to open next day.I played with the lock for almost half hour. I had horrible thoughts of having to call a locksmith to cut open the cabinet. But then I calmed down and evaluated the situation. I pulled the cabinet out of the closet turned it on its side. I could hear my sweeties rattling inside :(, but that was enough to move the range bag and the lock opened. Now if the cabinet was bolted to the walls this could have turned into a very bad situation. Or God forbid you really needed the gun and the cabinet refused to open!!!But in all fairness this was my bad since technically the cabinet is a "gun cabinet". In the real world however you might have to use it for ammo and othet stuff as well.So if you use the cabinet for more than guns with a little precaution you can avoid this situation. Make sure nothing gets closer to the locking mechanism. The best way to do that is to keep the guns on the side of the lock and other stuff on the other side. Problem solved.Hopefully someone else will avoid getting into a similar situation. Don't let this keep you from getting this cabinet since this is an excellent product.

I purchased this safe to keep my kids from my guns. I didn't want a big heavy gun safe because of the expensive and difficulty to move from place to place. This safe weight about 50 Lbs. This Stack-on gun cabinet arrived as expected, in one piece, no assembly is require due to welded construction. It looks like 16 gauge steel, enough to keep honest people honest, but not a hard core thief that comes prepared to break into this safe. The paint finish on the cabinet, both inside and out is nice too.The key to the lock is like a car key, cut on both sides. You get 2 keys, but can order more from STack-On. The lock, latch onto the inside cabinet at 3 points, side, top and bottom. There is no handle to pull door open which is a good thing when someone is trying to break in. You can easier pull the door open by grabbing onto the key that is in the lock.It has pre-drilled holes for the plastic gun racks, and for securing the cabinet to the wall and the floor. I didn't secure cabinet to the floor but did secure it to the wall. The 4 holes are space just right for the studs inside my bedroom wall, which is 16 inches apart. I didn't use the 4 bolts that comes with the cabinet, because they are too thick and short. I used instead 2.5" long kitchen cabinet mounting screws, which are rated at 250 lbs each. I used the cabinet's 4 holes as a guide to drill holes for my mounting screws; this will relief stress on the 2x4 wood studs inside my wall, thus wood won't crack and make screw entry a little easier. I used the large metal washers that comes with the cabinet along with my four 2.5" screws to secure the cabinet to my bedroom wall. Cabinet secure flush to the wall, which gives a thief nothing to grab onto to rip the cabinet out. He will have to use a large crow bar, but with 4 kitchen cabinet screws, the two wall studs will have to be rip out too, not an easy task.Unlike my old gun safe, I didn't have to worry about humidity because this cabinet allow air in.

Mine showed up fully functional out of the box. All keys were included, and the locking mechanism operates smoothly and positively. No dents were found, even though the top box flap was torn open in transit. They have added some buffer packaging material between the cabinet and shipping box, so it looks like some of the previous complaints about dents during shipping have been addressed.Most long guns will fit nicely into this cabinet, using the included plastic stand-offs. I ran into problems with my AR-15s though. The carbine isn't tall enough to reach the barrel standoff, even with the stock fully extended, so it rests against the bare metal back. My other one is scoped, which creates a clearance problem due to the grip extending out into the door opening. These types of rifles will need to be turned to the side to clear the door, which reduces the capacity of the next position over. Not the end of the world, but it is something you'll need to be aware of.Installation was easy, and all hardware was included. Make sure you bolt this cabinet to studs using the lag bolts, as it can be a little unsteady when empty and the door is opened. This also makes it much more difficult for someone to just walk away with it. It's not a safe, and will probably take 2 seconds to pry open during a planned burglary, but when properly secured it should keep out curious children and random opportunistic thieves.

Delivered in record time, without a scratch . Fit in perfet armony with the room I bolted it in.Easy to handle and fit the requirement of the Canadian Law.I likie it so mush I ordered the Pistole /Ammo cabinet the next day and stack it on.

I am very happy with this cabinet! Worth every penny. The only thing I wasn't very happy about was the condition it arrived in. The box was destroyed and the safe had about 5 pretty noticable dents. I was lucky and they were on the back.

Very easy to assemble, good form factor and sturdy enough. The locking mechanism makes it tough to break the door opened without forcing or picking the lock itself.
