Killer feature: auto-turn-on every day!
I have a few grow lights that are similar to this one and this one has some notable improvements over them. I’ll address those first with a more general review afterwardsThe big one for me is that the timer function on this light doesn’t only turn off the lights after a certain number of hours but it then turns the light on again for the next 24 hour cycle. This is a great feature since the electronics of these lights prevent you from putting them on an external timer outlet. The UI is a little obscure: there is no way to adjust the turn-on time than when you first enabled the timer. In other words, if I want the light to turn on at 9am every day, then I need to first enable the timer at 9am. If it is currently 10am, there is no way to say the light should turn on at 9am. Additionally, the only indication that the timer is active at all is that the led blinks on the controller; there is no way to know when the light will turn on again. The internal clock also seems to drift a few minutes over several days of use. It is hard to measure exactly how much unless you’re standing around when the light turns on, but I estimate it drifted about 30-60 seconds per day. This can be reset by just disabling and re-enabling the timer. Despite all this, I find the feature useful and it keeps my plants happier than relying on me to turn the lights on every day.The other new feature is that you can choose which spectrum the light should operate in: red, blue, or both. I’ve read that some plants will react better in different stages of their lifecycle (e.g. flowering vs growing) with different lights but I don’t have any experience with this. It is nice to have the option to play with it, though.More generally, this light makes my plants much happier than they would be in my apartment which gets too little light for them. Within days of setting it up they had noticeable new growth and their leaves looked a bit lusher. There are two LED rods at the end of goosenecks that you can angle in different directions but they don’t twist so pointing in some directions is much harder. There is a clamp that should fit over about ½” I estimate. If you have tall plants you might want to attach the lamp to a different surface since it doesn’t have a ton of height. It is powered by USB and comes with a USB outlet adapter so you can plug it either into a wall outlet or a USB power source if that is easier.Overall I’m quite happy with the lamp and would recommend it to friends. I am giving it five stars because I think it is a good value and my primary issue with it–that the UI for the timer is a bit hard to use–would be hard to resolve, in my opinion, at this price point.

Low price, high quality!
The item came packed in a rather unusual box which was twice as thick on one end as on the other. When I opened the box, the reason for the odd shape was revealed: The base of the light was wide and the far end of the light was very thin, hence the interesting dimensions of the box.Lifting the light out of the box, I found that the base of the light is actually a sturdy clamp with a rather strong spring. This was a surprise to me because if this was revealed in the original ad I must have missed it. This clamp, which measures 3” wide at the lips, and roughly 1” wide at the other end where you grab it to open it, is well made and strong. This base clamp can be fastened to a table edge, a board, or whatever works best for your layout. It holds the two lights very securely so that they can be adjusted in whatever configuration works best for you without any tipping or instability. The ends of the two flexible sections are screwed securely into the clamp. These flexible sections are about 15” long which gives one the ability to place the lights wherever they are needed. The lights themselves are about 10” long. Each light consists of alternating red and blue sections, with each two blue sections being separated by two red sections. There are 18 illuminating sections in each light. The wire extending from the lamps though the clamp are a generous 60” long, allowing one to plug into a wall outlet without having to use an extension. The far end of the wire terminates in a USB plug. Included in the box is a small square block with the proper terminals for your outlet. Mine came with prongs for an American outlet. I am sure that the proper block is included for each country, thus allowing the same wiring to be used for all. Very smart thinking! In the wire about 20” from the lamp base is the control pod. It has four buttons to control the various functions of the light. Included in the box is a small paper with instructions about how to adjust the light for its various modes and timings, with a picture of the pod so you can see which button does what. The lights can be adjusted so that all sections are on, or all red, or all blue. There are four levels of brightness, and the lights can be set to come on for 3 hours, 9 hours, or 12 hours. This is a very clever light that has many possible adjustments. You will not be disappointed if you invest in it.

Great for Seed Starting
I purchased these to start my vegetable seeds and it works quite well. Setup is super easy - you plug it in (I needed to use an extension cord because the cord is rather short) and then press the button to turn it on, press the color changing button to change the light to pink, blue, or purple, and press the timer button to choose the on/off interval (once for 3 hours, twice for six hours, and three times for twelve hours),I've been using this about a month now on the purple setting with 12 hour intervals and it works well. I have the unit clipped to the side of a metal shelving unit (Amazon Basics brand) and I covered the sides and top/bottom of the shelf with foil so no light is wasted and it seems to be working. The plants seem to be enjoying it and are healthy and hardy. The light is a bit finicky and if the plug is jostled even the tiniest bit then you have to reset the timer which is annoying but has only happened a handful of times. The area covered is not huge (the shelf mine is on is about three feet wide), but it's plenty of area for starting seeds, especially with the foil reflecting the light back. Larger areas will probably need two units.Overall, this is easy to use, the timer function is a huge timesaver, and the plants are thriving so I certainly recommend it.
