use this to make a plaque , wish it would’ve been a bit more heavy just to add some weight to the plaque but it worked fine. the stand offs did split the wood a bit in the back but just a little

Like the deep mount and smooth surface. Worked out well for two paintings.

I use a lot of this size wood block. I decided to try these since they were a little bit cheaper than others I've bought. The minute I opened the box I could smell them. The smell reminds me of a box I left in the basement too long that has old clothes in it.I want to like these wood panels, I need them for my business. I don't see how I can order more of them since I imagine they all smell bad. Sorry, but it's the truth.

I love the look of the wood edge but I did not want the texture of the wood to show through in the painting. Also, I wanted it to be smooth enough to use colored pencil. I put a thinned layer of white paint down before the background color and you can’t see any of the wood texture peeking through. I did make the mistake of trying to speed up the drying process with a hair dryer on the cool setting. The first layer of white was watered down a lot so it created a little bit of damage in the wood (by the hamsters left elbow) but I didn’t repeat that mistake and had no other issues.

Well made and nicely packaged, should work nicely for my paintings.
