To be completely transparent, I am reviewing this within the first couple of uses to receive the bonus screen. That being said, this is a very solid purchase. The press is very sturdy and looks great. Many people complain about glass presses because they crack and break easily, but this one has some plastic around the outside that reinforces the glass and looks pretty neat, too. I actually accidentally dropped it from about a foot and a half off the ground and the thing is just fine. The filter and plunger work great.The best results of good coffee come from following the directions: don't use presently boiling water, if making coffee, use course grounds, clean immediately after use, etc. Several of the common complaints could be remedied just by paying attention and not being a doof. I am very happy over all with this product. Plus, I got a cool app to go with the new press I own by scanning a barcode on the box. Not why I bought it, but a cool little add on of nice coffee recipes. Can't wait to try teas and espresso!Updated June 1st, 2015So, I've owned this little beauty for a little while longer now, so I thought I'd give an update after using this a few (dozen) more times.I. Absolutely. LOVE. This. Device! Let's go over the high points:All-glass construction. If you feel the inside of your carafe, you'll notice that it is a completely solid glass construction. I've discovered that other presses will join the glass to a plastic base which will crack or leak with normal use. This, however, is a solid build. This will never leak because it's one continuous piece of glass.Heavy-duty. This thing is a tank. The plastic lining along the outside really enforces that glass. I use this all the time and I've never worried about cracking the glass. Like I mentioned when I first bought this press, I accidentally dropped it (woops!) on the floor and ... it bounced! I wouldn't test that on yours, but that still doesn't change how impressed I am with the durability of this product. Also, the construction just appears pleasing. It's very classy looking, and I get a lot of complements on its looks alone.It's so simple! No little bolts or screws. Just the carafe, a plastic top/plunger, and nothing else. The filter attached to the top is ridiculously easy to take apart and assemble. There are some other presses that advise you to disassemble their filters over a tray so you don't lose little parts. No problem here! Just three pieces that sit right on top of each other and twist right on to the plunger. My dog could put this thing together.My last high point is the company's customer service. They do a great job of making sure you're happy. Pretty much as soon as I ordered the press I got an email from the co-founder of the company and got a few tips on how to take care of the press. Now, I don't know if it was an automatically generated email, but I don't really care if it was. I knew exactly how I could get ahold of someone if I had any questions. I've never heard any complaints about trying to communicate with this company. In my experience, these guys and gals are the best at doing what they do.If you're busy scrolling through reviews of various presses, trying to decide which is the best one for you, I'd tell you look no farther. I did the very same thing, and I'm so happy with my results. This is the all-around best glass press you'll find. Like I mentioned in my first review, most of the problems people encounter while using any press are generally their own fault. When brewing coffee, use course ground beans to avoid any bits of grounds that could pass through the filter. Never, ever, use directly boiling water in the press. That's just too much of a shock for any glass. Plus, it'll make the brew nasty. Always stir the grounds with a plastic or wooden spoon. Metal spoons might hit the inside wall of the carafe and chip or crack the glass. Basically, handle your press with care and use common sense. If you do that, you'll be making the most delicious cups of coffee you've ever had in no time! I hope you enjoy your press just as much as I do.

Product is better than expected and better than any other French press units I've owned. Excellent value. Seller very helpful in providing tips to brew best coffee and tea. This review based on using the unit for about 2 weeks to make coffee, hot tea, and iced tea.I purchased the product for condo used as vacation place. I didn't want to spend much, didn't want to use much space in the kitchen, but still wanted to be able to make decent coffee and iced tea. Friends joke that I'm a coffee snob but in my opinion I'm just simple old guy who likes good coffee. As reference for my comparisons, at home I use a Bosch drip unit designed by Porche that was over $300. It has worked great brewing coffee for over a decade. I typically roast my own coffee beans or buy whole beans from places that roast in the store. I only grind beans in a coffee mill.I've owned about 5-6 French press devices in past decade. All were higher end brand name or from one of the popular coffee stores. One was purchased in Europe and was supposedly the best there. Two problems I've always had were that the glass breaks and the screen on the plunger doesn't catch all the coffee grounds.When making coffee I would take cold (35 degree from fridge) filtered water and put it into the French press and then pour that into a tea kettle. Once the water was boiling I would pour it back into the press. I half expected the glass to break when I poured boiling water into a cold unit. I often repeated the process to make multiple pots of coffee so the pot went from cold to hot to cold to hot, etc. I ran it through dish washer on bottom shelf multiple times. No problems at all.When I bought the unit I assumed it probably wouldn't last long so I didn't treat it gently. I wanted to know early in process if it was going to break so I would know if I needed to purchase a full stainless steel unit. I didn't bother to read manufacturer rules for use so the way I used it is probably not recommended. But, if it wasn't going to last the way I wanted to use it I wanted to know early so I could trash it.The first week I used coffee that I bought and had ground to medium/course. The screen on the plunger did excellent job. The next week a family member picked up an espresso fine grind coffee. Only the absolute finest coffee pieces made it into the coffee mugs. To my surprise, this unit did a much better job that other presses I've purchased for twice the price.The press did pretty good job at making crema particularly given I was using arabica beans. If I was home I would have added some robusta beans to the mix for more crema. The crema would stay better if I poured it into the cup without the plastic top in place.I made tea from loose leaf multiple times to drink hot and to make very strong as a base for iced tea. The unit worked very well for that.Quality of the unit very nice. Certainly better than anything else I've found even at specialty stores. Balance feels right when pouring. Handle is unusual. I'm 6'4" with big hands and found the shape better than other units but not great for my size. Family members who are shorter (especially females) thought it was very comfortable to use. The ladies in the house thought it looked great and thought it should sit on the counter as a decorative piece.

Other than the lid being a little flimsy, this works excellently. One of the better filtering system out there for a French press with a nice price tag. Love it so much I got the bigger size. I do believe the sizes are off because the smallest does not get 3 cups at all. 1.5 at most. Honestly for a few bucks more you can get the bigger size, which is what I should have done from the start. None the less, great product

The quality is verry good

Had a stainless steel press prior that left an after taste on brew. Kona glass is much tastier.
