This deodorant truly works. After giving up on conventional deodorant/antiperspirants, I've gone through a whole bunch of natural deodorants. Love the smell of the black Burt's Bees, and I think it works pretty well, but it ruined more than a few of my shirts. This stuff... I cannot extol its virtues enough! First, the smell is nothing you'll want to douse yourself in (kinda smells like sage) but it is also completely undetectable once it dries your skin (awesome). Second, I put it on one time after I get out of the shower and never feel the need to reapply until I shower again (this stuff is still working at the 36th hour). Third--even after working out--no armpit odor. Fourth, the value is amazing. According to Amazon, I purchased this months ago. I think its still half full. I'm writing the review now because I didn't take it with me on my trip home for the holidays. It is a liquid and I had other liquids I thought I needed more so I bought a Toms stick thinking it would work for the week. I was wrong... Toms is the worst. I can't even use it because I think it might actually *cause* my pits to smell. The only caveat: women, do not use immediately after shaving your pits... it stings like hell. I've found that applying witch hazel and waiting about an hour helps take it down a few notches. I wouldn't even list this among a product negative, since I think it lasts much longer than 24 hours anyway. One could probably forgo it for a day without any unwanted odor (probably explains why I didn't notice the problem with the Toms until I was home for 3 days).

Since developing an allergic reaction to most deodorant/antiperspirants, I have tried several of the more natural types: - Tom's (1 star - did not work for me at all, really didn't smell/seem/feel like I'd applied anything), - Arm & Hammer Essentials Deodorant, Fresh (3 stars - usually but not always worked well, had to re-apply 1-2x/day) - Adidas (4 stars - worked well, usually reapplied 1-2 times/day, but even so the one stick lasted almost 1 year!) I finally used the Adidas one up, and have looked tirelessly in stores for more. It appears they might not make it anymore, and the prices for it on Amazon seem to reflect this - Yikes! So it was time to sadly move on. I bought Silver Shield (Original) a week ago and it's working great! It's weird being back to a 'roll-on' type; I can't remember the last time I used anything but a stick, but it smells nice, and has lasted all day every day so far, even though we've had some very hot and humid days. If I use it right after shaving it stings a little, but the pain goes away quickly. So far this is my favorite aluminum-free deodorant.

I find this product works great for me, and I have tried a LOT of men's "natural" deodorants. I've had a bad reaction to many of them, called "intertrigo". No bad reaction to this one, even the original formula. Silver Shield has a nice gender-neutral fragrance that I would describe as "rosemary + other herbs". The packaging looks pretty feminine to me, but the scent is not feminine at all. The company could probably design a different label for men, put the exact same product in there and sell a ton of it. The fragrance wears off after a few hours and does not last nearly as long as some of the other products I've tried. But what's great about this one is that my pits don't stink at all, even when I wake up in the morning - like 24 hours after I've applied it, they have no smell. Also, with many of the other deodorants, a waxy residue persists in my pits, even after I shower. There is no residue with this one, since it is a liquid. After it dries, it feels like there's nothing there, which is nice. It just works.

I'm a 23-year-old fit white male, and I sweat like a pig. I've gone through many, many different kinds of deodorants and antiperspirants -- from Old Spice to Arm & Hammer to Trader Joe's to Dr Bronner's to Speed Stick and everything in between. I stopped using aluminum-based deodorants when I realized that they were the reason the armpits on my shirts kept turning yellow. None of the aluminum-free deodorants were as effective at keeping me from getting stinky, though, and my armpits had a tendency to start itching for some reason. Most recently I used Trader Joe's unscented cotton-based deodorant, which I really wanted to like, but was pretty ineffective. So I read lots of reviews and decided to give this stuff a whirl. This is the first liquid-based roll-on deodorant I've used. It's awesome. I can pronounce all of the ingredients. It keeps me smelling completely fresh for up to 36 hours. It even seems to have some antiperspirant effect. I asked my girlfriend for a statement just now, after a weekend of sleeping in the same bed, and she "likes it very much, haha." So there's that. The product itself gets about a bajillion stars. The reason I'm giving it four stars, though, is because the packaging is a bit leaky. When I unscrew the cap some drops of liquid run out occasionally, and it leaks a little bit when the cap's screwed on if the bottle rolls around on its side. Not a big problem -- I just keep my bottle in a little Ziploc bag when carrying it around with me. But it's still something I'd like to not have to worry about when I'm tossing this bottle in my bag to go to the gym or to spend the night somewhere.

I have tried several natural deodorants. I am post menopausal and have hot flashes. So even in cold weather, I sweat more than the average bear. When I first received this, I really liked the smell and I decided to use it for at least a month before I wrote a review, some of the products I’ve tried seem to work at first and then after a few weeks, they’re not as effective. Not the case here, I use three or four spritzes and it lasts all day. I have had no irritation, and no stink breakthrough. It felt very wet the first time I sprayed it on, but that goes completely away. Much more pleasant than the oily greasy film I got with some of the natural cream deodorants.

I've looked all over for a deodorant having silver-particle technology which functions as an anti-microbial/ anti odor. I have had allergies to aluminum-GLy formulations. Unfortunately the few companies which offer this technology also combine it with so-called natural ingredients which gives them a nauseating herbal smell and, in addition, cause other more serious allergies. Anyone believing that essential oils and herbal extracts are innocuous should get their head examined. Tell that to a kid who eats peanuts and goes into shock, or comes home with a poison ivy infection or drinks hemlock or crushed apple seeds and dies. If you go to an allergist to be tested for your allergies what do you thing your patch test contains? Yup, natural ingredients: grasses, herbs, plant extracts etc. just like the stuff used in this product. So, i recommend this product if you want to smell like an Italian salad dressing! But if you develop a terrible allergic reaction it is certainly not due to the silver-particles in this witches brew; it's due to all the nonsensical extracts that are added to scare away evil spirits. This product would get 6 stars had they just used the same formula without the "natural" ingredients. It would have worked just as well and not had the potential to cause allergies in those who bought it assuming it would be helpful.
