Great Canal Journeys: Series 1-5

We are huge fans. My husband asked for the set for Christmas. Also purchased a multi-country dvd player as we’re in US. The company double-checked with me to make certain I knew the dvds wouldn’t play on American machines. When I replied and also mentioned it was a Christmas gift, they got them here before the holiday despite an original estimate of January. Thank you! And thank you to Pru and Tim for the many hours of enjoyment. The dvds are excellent quality.

Bought this as a gift at the request of a friend and then did a PAL (Europe) to NTSC (US) conversion as part of the request (friend could not find an NTSC version). While doing the conversion, I watched portions of the video to confirm quality. I found the image and sound quality to be very nice for a DVD.I also found the series to be really engaging to watch. The various areas they traveled through were beautiful and the couple that head up this series are fun and relaxing to just sit and listen to.

Quite simply one of the best series on tv about canals . My wife and I love this particularly programme. Timothy West and Prunella Scales their love for one another and canals. Prunella has memory condition but remembers things wonderfully especially looking after as she puts it “The captain” Timothy West an example to us all how to love our wives it’s extraordinarily beautiful. Timothy West too a superb story teller and the history he tells of the various canals is really interesting and prunella too magical.

I bought this as a present for someone who lives on the canals and she enjoyed this series

Just be aware that series one and two are the best of, so some episodes will be missing.

Wonderful show. About so much more than canals. It's also a love story and the openness of this wonderful couple about good times and bad is captivating. They show you such wonderful places too.

I enjoy these and find them relaxing and interesting. There are bits often repeated which are a bit annoying to me but I am a bit crabby at the best of times! I did feel sorry for Prunella Scales on occasions.
