Pie Corbett has put together a super book here packed with ideas on geting your literacy lessons started. Some we all know but it's good to be reminded and lots are new and exciting. Great ideas for starting Talk for Writing, these ideas really have made my Y4 class class more excited and keen to learn in Literacy!The book is also really easy to dip in and out of easily!

This book is full of fantastic, short activities that are perfect for literacy starters. They can also be 'played' during any spare time you have (maybe a couple of minutes before lunch or at the end of the day). Suitable for all KS2 children (I teach y5), and could be easily adapted for younger children. I have noticed an improvement from all my children's sentence level work after playing a selection of these games for only a few weeks.

This book includes lots of activities to include as mental/oral starters. Some could be extended into longer sessions. I like the ideas for improving spelling and have been focusing on these but I look forward to including other ideas in my lessons soon. Children quickly engage with the activities and gives them good strategies for their own learning
