B1845 Durant Chiming Clock, Walnut

Buy it. For the money, it’s beautiful. As we’ve only had it for two months, so far it's working very well. Time retention and sound quality are excellent and no problems with the rotating pendulum, yet.

Beautiful clock with wonder chimes

Purchased this clock to replace an older anniversary clock that stopped working. That one was the classic 13" high glass-dome type which unfortunately is not made any more. This clock had the size I was looking for and looked nice in the pictures so I ordered it. It's absolutely beautiful. So much so it's now sitting on our mantle as opposed to the book shelf I was going to put it on. The case is real wood and although the clock is plastic, as an entire unit, the overall effect is class-plus! And the chime is pitch perfect. Electronic chimes have come a long way in 20 years. Couldn't be more pleased. As a heads-up, you will also need 2 "C" batteries in addition to the 2 "AA" batteries mentioned on the Amazon site.

Chose this clock to add to my bookcase shelf. It looks beautiful. It was very easy to set up and get running. The chimes are amazing. If I could choose one added feature it would be to add the option of having a small led light on the inside to come on at dusk and go off at dawn. That would be a wonderful way to accent the crystals at night.

Our new Old World Clock is such a great combination of artists' workmanship I don't know where to start. I love this clock. I should tell you quickly and first that it runs accurately and quietly. The frame, for lack of a better word, is made of such beautiful walnut I can imagine someone sorting out each piece carefully so they could achieve a matching of grains. As I lovingly run my hands over it, I marvel with each dusting at how much talent, skill and love must have been required to make my clock. Four stars instead of five were given because my dear clock arrived home with a broken leg. My husband simply glued it back on, so there was no harm, just a passing disappointment. And though the twirling gems are not even glass and they are set in gold that looks flawless, I wish they were of higher quality. Having said all that, I never thought to return this clock. And the price was so reasonable I understand those choices. This clock would be an impressive gift to others or yourself. I am grateful for our clock, and our three children already think we should have two more....wonder why? Kaye Agle 1-20-2014

setting the time of day or night was a little tricky for you need to go all the way around letting it chime each hour . At first it was off in the day and chiming all night ha! we got that sorted out so it's chiming properly in the day but still having an issue with the volume control for it's very touchy to get it just right to your liking . I'm so glad I ordered it , I had been looking at it for a year or more then bought it for myself for a 79th birthday present . The gold and crystal turning pendulum catches the light beautifully and the wood workmanship is outstanding
