COFFEE IS SERIOUS BUSINESS!
I don't usually write reviews, but let's face it, coffee really is serious business when you love it. I had to go off of it because my body couldn't handle the caffeine anymore. I tried and tried, but it kept making me feel awful and I wasn't sleeping well. I tried EVERYTHING under the sun to find a substitute. Nothing worked. I was so so sad without my coffee, and even the best teas did nothing to make me from wanting that morning cup. So, is this like coffee? Hmmm.... No. But, in a way, I think it's better in the long run (for me). BIGGEST TIP! My suggestion is to start by brewing this a little bit at a time with your regular coffee. By the time I was drinking this, and only this, it was fine. It really is as close as you can get to a coffee taste. I actually love it now and don't have a coffee craving anymore (but I still miss the full-coffee flavor at times). I feel like this gives me the "right kind" of energy. Meaning, I'm not buzzing, but I feel a healthy energy. I am sleeping better and I feel more vibrant. I am aware of the ingredients listed and have taken them for health reasons in the past, so I think that's why I'm feeling so good. And, it feels good to be doing something that is actually healthy for me. Again, don't think this is going to taste just like coffee, but it's pretty darn close. And like I said, it will be easier to switch when you do it a little bit at a time. HAPPY COFFEE-ING!

First let me say that I love coffee!
First let me say that I love coffee!!!!!!! Coffee ended up not loving me. Caffeinated or decaf will cause lower abdominal inflammation by late afternoon (with only one cup in the morning) so I finally just had to quit. I've tried almost every substitute on the market (haven't tried the Maya nut one). Ayurvedic Roast has come the closest to the aroma and flavor of coffee and I am hooked. I bought the unflavored (not a fan of vanilla), and enjoy it with organic half and half and sometimes a bit of unsweetened mocha powder. It is awesome. I'm ordering another bag for my office. I should also say that I am a Chiropractor and nutritionist and as such, I highly recommend this product.

Avoid if you have asthma
This caused an asthma attack with my first sip, not sure why since no other coffee substitute has caused this problem, perhaps it's one of the herbs? Proceed with caution if you have allergies or asthma. Can't speak to the taste much since I was distracted by wheezing, but it didn't particularly smell or look like coffee. To add insult to injury, the brewed grounds are super sticky and basically cemented to my reusable filter, it was a terrible pain to clean. I gambled on this pricey product after reading favorable reviews, but I'm very disappointed in it.

Post-divorce happiness
Coffee and I met when I was 16. Despite my youth we married right away. Over the 50 years we were together, we went through all the changes a couple does -- from instant to perc to drip to espresso to latte to decaf, then decaf with full bore, then back to decaf. We even tried a threesome and added milk, then cream, then 1/2 and 1/2. In the end, despite all of our efforts, we couldn't stand each other and fought all the time. I was finally told to just let go. Then tea? Nice companion at times, but not for the long haul. Someone suggested I meet Pero. I had already done that. So I went online and found a nice-looking prospect, Ayurvedic Roast. I was drawn by the obvious well-meaning nature of the grains and herbs and I've always been a fan of Ayurvedic approaches to health. So I arranged a sample meeting. It was not love at first sight. I like a strong, dark companion and it took a couple of tries before we hit it off. Here's how we do it: boil 1-2 cups of water, add 2 tablespoons of Ayurvedic Roast and simmer for 1-2 minutes. Add equal parts milk (cow, soy, almond, rice, etc) and bring back to a simmer; strain and serve. Sometime we invite a little cocoa powder to the party. We are now very happy together. I was not looking to duplicate coffee -- after all that relationship ended up trying to destroy me. What I found is warming, strong-flavored and supportive without any of the frenzy and dehydration I suffered before. I've introduced Ayurvedic Roast to a very stressed out coffee addicted boss, who is anxious to make the switch.I have been promised a free 11oz bag of Ayurvedic Roast for writing this review. Why would I want another bag if I didn't really really like this product? So I am most happy to write and share my happiness.

My Favorite Morning Beverage
At first, this stuff was ok but gradually, it has grown on me. And the interesting thing, is that after brewing, I like to eat the grinds. I know that may be a little off-putting to some people, but if you like the flavor of slightly burned grains, you'll enjoy them too. As far as the drink goes, I add 2 ounces of whole milk (or goat milk is you prefer) and enjoy it without sugar. I've noticed that I sleep a lot better after starting this beverage every morning. Since then I've learned that Ashwagandha helps to induce sound sleep but does not make you drowsy during the day. So, you can enjoy as many cups as you like.I don't think of it as a coffee substitute. My coffee drinking friends love it too.

Similar to coffee but even better !!
Excellent coffe substitute! I always thought it would be imposible to have a good substitution for coffee . Even though it was sometimes so heavy for my stomach and my nerves I couldn't stop drinking it. Now this fantastic option not only tastes very similar to a good american coffee but it's wonderful for my stomach and my nerves. It's taste is always the same. With coffee you never now. Sometimes good sometimes two strong two weak depending in such a big varieties of brands preparations etc.The ayurvedic roast is very consistent . I like it a little strong .After trying different ways to do it I found that in the traditional way with paper filter is the best . Just add a little bit of milk and just delicious to have with me all morning to enjoy it sip by sip...Update: The design of the Hario coffee dripper (made in japan) is great !! it has a big hole in the bottom so it allows a faster extraction, but just the time needed for an excellent taste, not too strong not too light
