Good inexpensive pin-style wood moisture meter
This is an inexpensive pin-type moisture meter that works well for casual use. If I were a building scientist testing wood for structural reasons or rot, I would probably order a better quality, name brand moisture meter. But for the money, and for casual use, such as checking firewood dryness, this works well. Burning well seasoned firewood is super important, and this tool is a great aid. POSITIVES: -Quite inexpensive for the quality. Gotta credit China for decent, inexpensive electronic assessment tools. -Appears to be reasonably accurate. Testing in different parts of a freshly split firewood piece showed different moisture levels according to how the wood looked (more moist vs. dry sections). -Includes a hard case, as well as a hard plastic cover for the plastic pins. -Compact and easy to use. -Turns on and gives a digital reading quickly. -Includes a 9 volt battery. NEGATIVES (none of these are deal-breakers) -Doesn't save the "mode" wood choice -- each time it is turned on, the user must scroll through the 4 choices to select the most appropriate wood type. But not a big deal. -The brand "Proster" is rather no-name, like of lot of similar Chinese brands selling inexpensive electronic items. No real warranty or product support. -Included battery is not alkaline. We'll see about battery life. -Wood choices are somewhat unusual for North America -- lots of tropical woods. All in all a solid choice.

Best buy for firewood chores
I have been splitting firewood for decades and never realized how much moisture variation can be in one tree until I learned about and bought a moisture meter. Like how it can be set for various tree species. Sorted wood as I split it into stacks that were the right moisture to burn and those that needed more drying time. I used to think I could tell by picking up the wood as I split it, but the Proster wood moisture meter proved my prior gauge of good firewood to be wrong! The meter is small enough to fit into my hand and pocket easily, large enough read out screen to read easily, and fast in measuring moisture. Sturdy case, bright orange if it falls out of my pocket accidentally so I can spot it easily. And the price was very affordable. It has already paid for itself several times over cost! My only disappointment was the difficulty I have removing the protective cap that covers sensor points. Know it has to snap on snuggly to keep dust and dirt out, but my thumbs and hands need help from a thin prying tool to get it off. Carry a small pocket knife to assist in getting it started and leave the cap off while splitting when I can set it down in a convenient space. Worth the aggravation of popping off the top and I can adapt. Just have to be careful not to mess up the points or my fingers!

Very Good for measuring cannabis moisture
The Proster Wood Moisture Meter has a convenient size that fits in hand easily and is easy to use. The best cannabis application is monitoring moisture during the drying process because there's a wide moisture range and colas fit into the prongs easily. During curing, the hold function especially helps because the meter is upside down when inserting the probes into a curing container, which is typically metal. Would be 5 stars (a) if each selection gave consistent results for every available option (i.e. wood type) and (b) the cap could be used to confirm 0% RH. Everything considered, the Proster digital Wood Moisture Meter is highly recommended for measuring cannabis moisture.

Works great.
Works great. You have to press it very firmly into the wood, which can be hard with hardwoods like oak, but once you've got the probes in, it works just fine.

Worked Good For Me!!
Rebuilding our deck and we had a lot of wood to stain. The instructions for the stain say the treated wood needs to have around a 12% moisture content for it to work like it should. I was shocked at how much moisture some of the wood we bought had!! I ended up letting the lumber sit in my heated garage for a week+ before it was finally dry enough to stain. I'm really glad I bought this moisture meter as the wood for our new deck cost a lot of money!! It should last a lot longer now because it had the correct moisture content so it absorbed the proper amount of stain. Money well spent!!

Easy to use
This is very easy to use moisture sensor. It can be calibrated for the type of wood you're using. I use it for my wood stove to determine the readiness of my hardwood prior to burning.

No problems so far!
I haven't had it very long, but it seems to be good. It came on handy while deciding whether I could stain my deck. It seems to be solid, but it is plastic. It has a cover for the probes which are very sharp. The price was such that my expectations were rather low, but so far, so good.

Small, Simple, Works
This is a long term review as it was bought July 2018. I very much enjoy gadgets however those gadgets must still serve a purpose and this item fits the bill on both accounts. I used this for a couple purposes, 1st to measure the moisture content of wood that I have cut down and milled to see how it is progressing along also when I'm putting together a chair or table to verify the wood is ready to be used ( hate to use damp wood and find your joints opening up! ) Local home supply type shops around here have these types of things however at a much higher cost some north of $250 ! While I do enjoy accurate numbers in what I test, to get that 0.01% accuracy for $250 I can pass. I've found this meter to work just fine for my personal needs and would buy again. Some general thoughts: It arrived very quickly as I remember since we have Amazon Prime. To that the unit arrived packaged well and without issue. It did come with a 9V battery so if someone doesn't have a battery laying around this can still be put to good use the moment it arrives. I find this unit to be small and not cumbersome, it fits easily in the hand and the bright orange design I assume is to help someone not easily loose this. The display is large and the reading output is real-time, there is no reading delay. Not as if you press the pins into the wood and then 10 seconds later it pops out a number. While it lists dozens of wood species many I'll never use...so this unit I guess from myself can never be 100% verified against that full list however amongst those wood species that I do use, this works just fine. If I were to give it any knock I would say a backlit screen would have made this device perfect. Depending on time of day and where being used a backlit screen would make this even better. I'm quite happy with my purchase and I'm sure others will be too. Helpful, is how I hope you find my review
