Capitol Collectors Series: The Four Preps

Best Sounding Four Preps CD
This was a replacement for the exact same CD I used to have (I was just waiting for a decent price), so I already know how good it is. The Capitol sound quality is light years better than a couple of so called imports that I reluctantly purchased. All of the hits are there, including some great live performances (More Money for you and Me) among them.

Volume lacks, in my opinion.
The volume of the Capitol set did not match that of other Four Preps CDs. In addition, the final song "Draft Dodger Rag sounds like an ALTERNATE take, and I HATE those!.

soft rock
Not one of the better rock & roll groups to come out of the 50's genre but they did have a few songs that still are good listening. I count 26 Miles, Big Man, Down by the Station and More Money for You and Me in that group. A lot of their stuff reflects an influence by groups such as the Four Aces, Four Lads & Lettermen that I don't hold in high regard but for those who cater to those groups this disc is good for you..

down by my station
The entire Capitol collectors series is incredible! This re-license by Coolectablesis exact replica of Capitol product [oop]. The Four Preps couldn't sound betterthan this! Great selection of hits, first time stereo on some songs. Furmanek, dug deep to find first generation tapes for entire series. Couldn't ask for more!Except rumor that twenty-six miles was recorded on two or three track and justmixed down. Real good buy for all their remarkable hits

The Four Preps --- much overlooked group
Here's a fasinating range of pop tunes by a very talented group performing a wide range of styles --- if you grew up during the 50s and 60s you'll certainly remember a number of these tunes --- they were a great harmony team... lots of teen era tunes here... brings back memories of the sock hops of that time.

overlooked era
These guys span an overlooked era in pop-rock history. They go from doo-wap to the British invasion to the Vietnam draft era.Tremendous harmonies combined with great arrangements are agood listen for anyone. They do great impressions of their rival vocal groups also.

good harmonies.
The Preps are a group I remember from my youth, their harmonies are maybe not as tight as the Freshmen or the Aces but they are more vibrant and fun. This is a first class album full of good songs and some fun novelty numbers. Well worth the purchase.
