Good grip on snow and ice
I bought these for the quite rare snowfalls in the Pacific Northwest. Recently we had some snow which was compressed to some rougher 1“ pure ice surface. No problem at all with these tires. The studs are still all in place after maybe 100 miles and the tires don’t feel terribly slow on asphalt. They were a bit harder to mount, even for the guy at the lbs who helped me (after I nuked a tube).

Great Winter Tire
I had a pair of these on my old cross bike, a Soma Doublecross, that I used for commuting. They are too wide for my new cross bike so I gave them away. For my needs, the studs in just the center did the trick, but if you ride through rutted ice, you'll want the outer rows of studs as well. I lost no studs in the four or five years I had these. Never had a flat. They don't work well in deeper and softer snow, but that's why someone invented fat bikes. I have a fairly significant climb on my way home from work and these were champs. These will be a bit slower than tires without studs. They added a few minutes to my commute. It's not like a couple extra minutes of exercise is somehow bad for me, or anyone else.
