workable and excellent value
This is definitely very cheap for a Forstner bit of this size, but it is effective, if in need of a bit of honing at the outset. In its favour, apart from cost is my experience of buying more costly and superior brands that also need a bit of honing from the outset: all of these tools come from the same source, more or less and there is an issue with quality control between one item and the next, regardless of brand. However, I used this bit to drill a flat bottomed hole into 2 inch oak, drilling to within 3/8th of an inch to the face of the timber and had no problem at all. These tools can be sharpened a bit and it is not a case of having them reground, more the removal of the odd burr, so I am satisfied and if I needed to buy a larger size Forstner bit I would buy this one again.

It drills holes
I'm an amateur diy'er. This bit (and it's bigger and smaller brothers and sisters) drills a nice clean hole in softwood. If you stop part way through, there's a flat bottom to the hole. It's not as quick as a spade bit, and you do have to sometimes stop and unclog the sawdust from the bit, but it does produce a cleaner hole than the spade bit.

Great value, functional bits.
I was happily surprised by these bits. The smaller of the two is made slightly differently and I did wonder if it would work, it did. As they are able to be sharpened if needed, these will last a long time and I will be buying more in different sizes. If you are drilling hundreds of holes at a time then obviously you want to get an expensive bit. I use them for making jigs in my workshop and they are going to work just fine for a very long time in general use.

Cheap
Well the drill bit was inexpensive for a forstner bit. Needed sharpening as cutting edge was blunt and rather rough. Sharpened up okay and quite useable although it was worryingly easy to sharpen indicating the metal is on the soft side so may not hold its edge too well. Having said that, I have so far drilled several holes in both soft and hardwood and after this fairly light use the bit is still ok.

Good, but consider a flat bit
Does a job but is much slower than a flat bit. Buy one of these Forstner bits if you need a really smooth finish with very high accuracy and you can spend a little more time drilling through, otherwise buy yourself a Machine Flat Bit. Seller service spot on.

Know what you need before ordering
Done the job. I really needed a size bugger, my fault and the shank could have done with being longer. These are not the tools fault but mine on ordering. The shaft does slip badly in the drill chuck so you need some brut force to tighten it up.

Did exactly what I had hoped
I needed a Forstner bit to drill a blind hole in a piece of wood. I'd never used a Forstner bit before and I had read that they were a bit difficult to keep aligned but this worked absolutely perfectly, drilling neat, straight sided holes.

Barely works
I don't know if its the design or just that it's too dull to cut but the bit really struggles to drill.I have other forstner bits, some larger than this one that work very well in my drill press. This one struggles and often stops my drill press from turning.
