Marvels: The Remastered Edition

Nice edition of this classic comic; half of this paperback is dedicated to extras so it comes nicely packed with sketches, essays and covers.

This is the greatest superhero graphic novel/comic miniseries I’ve read! This and Spider-Man Life Story are superb with excellent writing and artwork! Marvels is a true masterpiece and everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, should read this book! The storytelling is so well done that I was engaged just like if I were watching a movie! I love the realism and the different take on how people in everyday ordinary life would view superheroes and all of these happenings! I hope there will be a sequel someday covering all comics transpiring after the ending of this story. AMAZING, FANTASTIC,INCREDIBLE, MARVELOUS, SPECTACULAR, SUPER, UNCANNY! These are all words I would use to describe this book, but MARVELOUS is the one that describes it best!

It is another way to look to the avengers, a very fresh way to do it. It was refreshing and entertaining.

Beautiful

This book takes many of the most significant events in the history of the Marvel universe and shows them to you from and new perspective: that of Photojournalist Phil Sheldon, an everyman whose pictures provide the public with many of their most enduring images of the Marvels, as Phil dubs them, in action. The story is outstandimg, the art, in a painted photorealistic style, equally impressive.

This book is beautiful both in story and visuals. Alex ross is such an insanely talented artist it is sickening. Every page is beautiful and turns everything so real but fantastical at the same time. And Phil Sheldon and Karl’s writing give a great narrator for the whole trip. Love this book.

Great! Really Unique and now one of my favorite comic books!

The Marvels retells some of the more well known stories of Marvel characters from the perspective of a photographer/reporter around at the time of the tales. The focus is on the photographer's life and how it intersects with the storied of many Marvel characters. The animation is sumptuous and in the style of a photostory with the inks being based on photographs of models (both human and plastic) leading a novel style of images. We get the human perspective of the tales, how the people who witnessed/lived at the time of the events portrayed would have behaved and thought,giving us a unique perspective for this fascinating series.

Alex Ross ist ein guter Künstler, aber kein guter Comic Künstler. Viele seiner Action Szenen und Posen wirken steif, was dem Realismus zu verdanken ist. Für einige mag das beeindruckend wirken. Doch der naturgetreue Stil ist beschränkt; dies ist für jeden ersichtlich, der kein Amateur in Sachen Kunst ist. Superhero Comics leben von Dynamik und Bewegung, nicht von schönen Standbildern.

If there is one book I'd recommend to get into Marvel comics. This would be it. The Alex Ross art is larger than life. Kurt Busiek is weaving a tale so engrossing and yet the scale is huge. It's an ambitious retelling of every major Marvel event in a way that's accessible and grand at the same time. The product itself felt a little flimsy. The glue and spine of the book seemed bent. But this book was not available and I had to wait for a long time to get it at the desired price. It's a certified hood classic.

Well written comic book with beautiful art, but the cover really makes it seem like it's going to be mostly Spiderman even though he's a very minor character introduced towards the end. Also the paper quality is like a magazine's, which is a bit disappointing for the price.

Gran comic,mejor persona. Recomendadisimo a quien se inicie en el mundillo. Y auqe pasaran grandes super heroes desde los ojos de un periodista.

My main issue is that the story ends to soon.(In my opinion) and the cover only features spider-man when he’s a minor background character.
