Great chair, takes time to get used to, helped my RSI
This is great chair. I have been using it every day for 3 months and I really love it. It is really comfortable and the rocking motion I find quite relaxing. I bought the chair because I liked the idea of a kneeling chair that promoted a healthy back - although I don;t have back problems I saw it as a long-term investment/preventative measure. It took me a long time to decide, because of the price but I now consider it good value. Although I don;t have back problems I do have RSI/carpal tunnel which in my case is an issue of nerves in my neck. The chair has significantly reduced the degree of discomfort I feel typing and other tasks. I use the chair at work.A couple of things to consider for potential buyers:My desk is 74cm high and I am 175cm tall. These are important variables to consider because the chair is not adjustable in height. It takes some time (perhaps a month or more) to get used to. During that time, it can be tiring on your back as your muscles strengthen.Your knees are folded underneath you much of the time. If you are not used to this (as I was not), this can be uncomfortable at the start. If you can sit cross-legged for extend periods you will probably be OK straight away. Some have said that it is hard on the shins and knees. In my experience, I keep my weight on the seat and put relatively little weight on my shins. I believe this is a better way to use the chair. The makers encourage you to shift position regularly - move your weight forward or back, untuck your knees and sit on it like a stool with your feet on the floor etc. I have found this positive advice and one of the best things about the chair is that you can use it in a variety of ways. It's been great for me. Happy to receive any questions

I am very disappointed and will be asking for my money back or ...
My chair has just arrived and I opened it to find that only half of the product had been delivered. The box only contained the seat and the two legs without the knee pads or the connecting part or any instructions. I am very disappointed and will be asking for my money back or for a replacement.

It's a good idea to build up your time on this chair
I'm enjoying using this chair, my only difficulty is getting on and off it! I made it up on my own, it's quite lightweight and comes with it's own Allan key. I had the backplate upside down to start with and then I couldn't fit the seat on, it makes the gap too wide, so if you have this problem you need to turn the backplate up the other way! It's a good idea to build up your time on this chair, it has quite a lot of movement (rocks back and forth), which is good to keep the back muscles mobile. If you spend too long on it, it can hurt your shins, and it probably really isn't a good chair for anyone with knee issues. I think this chair is probably like marmite... I didn't get to try one out before I bought it l but read the reviews on here and decided to order it. I find sitting on a 'normal' chair incredibly difficult and painful due to spinal issues and could spend hardly anytime at my desk, now I've got this kneeling chair it has allowed me the ability to sit back at my desk, which I'm really pleased about.

Here is my impartial review. From a long term back sufferer
I received the Varier balans chair on 14.11.16 after being a long term chronic back sufferer and will be updating this review over time and will adjust the rating based on my own personal experiences of the chair.About meI am 5' 11" with a 31cm inside leg and weigh 208lbsI am a long term back sufferer and in September had my 3rd back operation. I am still off work and unable to sit for any period of time using a standard seat for horrible lower back and leg pain.Initial thoughtsThe chair is very basic, light and extremely easy to assemble. My first reaction sitting was that the seat heat was further away from the knee rests than I imagined. This leads me to believe anyone around 6ft doesnt need to worry about being too tall. Basically your shins on the pads are the starting point and your bum will position itself on the top cushion based on the length of your legs from the shins up. At my above measurements shown above my bum feels pretty central so no complaints there. A shorter persons bum would be more forward on the seat due to shorter legs. Pad raisers can be purchased for shorter people/choldren as far as I am aware. The padding isnt the thickest but my initial thoughts were it was adequate. Time will tell what the cushioning is like once its been compressed over time. The chair has quite a bit of flex and moves sideways as you shift your weight which I find quite pleasant along with the rocking of the chair.I have only just built it up and briefly sat on it in front of the PC and will post further with updates below. My first test will be later today as I try to build up time on the chair to enable me to get back to work with sitting upto 8 hours at a time.Update 1 14.11.16Spent an hour on the chair. There is a lot more sideways flex in the chair than I first imagined. This is not a bad thing. Along with the rocking it appears to let your spine flec and move gently. This had not caused my back any problems so far. I mentioned above about leg lengths, altho the chair is not adjustable you can adjust how your body up and down thd seat which changes where the shin rests sit. I have not felt iny pain in the shins so far.Compared to one of the static kneeling chairs that I used to have this is way more comfortable so far which is encouraging15.11.16 00.03amJust sat back on chair. Its early days but i think this may be the real deal. I love the movement sideways ie its not rigid. Basically it rocks and sway's which i think is good for the spine. As i mentioned my back is a real mess and im living in massive pain . Im updating the rating to 4 stars but that is based on my first day

Had to return it due to manufacturing issue
Unfortunately I had to return the chair as, due to a manufacturing issue, the seat was not fitting the runners properly. I tried to force the runners into the seat a few times, but it really felt I was going to damage it so I gave up. I was really excited about the chair, however I expected the quality to be much higher, especially given the price and its fame as being the first designer kneeling chair.
