What an awesome book!
Such an awesome book for understanding Nutrigenomics! Thank you Dr. Amy Yasko.

Oh -- I was so confused by this book! Not the content, but rather the approach? First it seems as though my copy were run off a copy machine (diagrams reference colored arrows and parts [example, page 101] of the pictures, but all of my diagrams were very faint, hard-to-read, and none contained any color). Secondly, I admire the research Dr. Yasko has done SO MUCH and I know that her work has its critics in the mainstream. This book is so sloppily written that they can extrapolate from the book to her research. Why give them that kind of under-handed pitch? As someone who knows better than most, a proofreader really is worth the investment! Why not employ one? They would have caught stuff like apparently the Genes referenced in the chart on page 151 have been left off the chart? The typo in that chart (hormone, not horomone). Page 145 where the sentence "studies from patients with systemic lupus erythrematosis…" is repeated twice? Autoimmune is not spelled correctly (p.145). And then there was the sentence fragment that has actually been used in writing classes as an example of what NOT to do (p. 95) "Again, to reiterate one more time…" Dr. Yasko, please don't make it easy for people to dismiss your work! I truly believe that you have insight into health processes that will someday inform mainstream medicine. Please make this book a reflection of that. If the chronic repetitions of the same sentences were removed, then this book would have the space to delineate: WHY (p.109) should we track taurine levels? What does it matter/indicate? (we are only told that we should, but not why). On page 122 "Thus, Methylation Cycle SNPs that decrease the level of B12 in the body can contribute to…." Why not list the SNPs? Page 139 you mention "Methylation Cycle weaknesses" that cause some people to neither produce nor recycle SAMe. Why not list a few or all of them? Please don't allow the sloppiness of this text to speak more loudly than your degrees and honors listed at the back of the book. Again, I am confounded as to how it was decided that this book was ready for the public. You do great work, please make sure this text is a worthy representation!

Amazing
Finished the book in less than 48 hours. WOW! Very thankful for the information and time put into spreading it. I’m also thankful for my own personal background in dietetics so I can understand this.

Feel Good Nutrigenomics
Great book. Loss of methylation leads to improper DNA regulation of genes. Methylation silences genes to prevent creation of wrong proteins from wrong genes in wrong cells. Animation¥/Lesson# youtube. ¥1 "How methylation silences genes" .All the genes unwound for replication, but copy's need methyl donors. ¥2 "DNA replication animation in real time" //Methyl donors diverted to detoxification may cause loss of DNA methylation. SAMe supports both: #4 "How does SAMe work Damian" "methylation community" //Correct proteins that cannot be formed with mutated genes ¥5 "From DNA to protein" .Correct proteins cannot be supplemented intentionally if mutations are not known. Dr Yasko tests 30 SNPs located in the Methylation Cycle to find mutations: "Guide To Nutrigenomic Testing" ¥6 "Single-Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) vimeo" .Correct proteins activates genetic path #7 "Dinosaur to bird evolution 3of5" //Dr Yasko's paper "Role of Excitotoxins in Autistic Type Behavior" mentioned that GLUTATHIONE depletion leads to neurons death. She tests for mutations leading to depleted glutathione with her CBS (cystathionine-beta-synthase) SNP test. CBS regulates the enzymes that help to convert methylation cycle dependent homocysteine into enzyme dependent glutathione. //Demethylation activates HERVs: "Why Retroviruses Appear in AIDS, Cancer and" "Retroviral DNA Methylation and Epigenetic" ¥8 "Endogenous Retroviruses Life-Cycle and Ancestral" //Dr Yasko drinks filtered water & follows GFCF Diet: "Food-derived opioid peptides inhibit cysteine" .All information is not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

Methylation 101
This is an introduction to methylation and it's relationship to DNA. The author has very impressive credentials, yet she makes a huge effort to write this on a level that most readers can understand. She sticks to the basics and uses metaphors effectively. Still, the book does get technical but there's really no way around that considering the subject matter.I'm planning to read Chapter 20 again after I spend some time on Dr. Yasko's website. I'd especially like more details about nutritional supplements for MTHFR. I've had genetic testing already so I know I have some challenges as far as methylation. This book is written for people in my situation who want background information. It's not for everybody, but I found it helpful.

So many aha moments and lights turned on
The reviews on Amazon almost deterred me from reading this and I am so glad I chose to decide for myself. The information and knowledge she shares is so critically important in health and has shed light on my personal health journey. Key factors I have been missing make so much sense and I am beyond excited to take what I have learned and move forward. Please receive the information and decide for yourself, truly hear what she says and make your own informed decision. Don't let opinions deter you from reading this book. Thank you Dr. Yasko for sharing your knowledge, I needed this.

Excellent intro to methylation
Great intro to SNPs and what to consider when working with SNPs. Written for people without a bio chemistry degree. Just what I needed.

Load of nonsense - if multivitamins cured everything, we would all be cured already!
Don't get desperate and drift into nonsense quackery. There is so much of it on the internet. At least get a doctor's opinion before wasting a lot of money on useless genetic tests (that tell you nothing without you knowing which genes are operational), and expensive supplements. Also only ever get an independent medical test - for obvious reasons. Try fasting or a ketogenic diet, or get a massage. All IMO.

Easy to read, simple explanation of methylation pathways
I was excited about reading this book after discovering a wealth of information on Dr Yasko's website. However, this book was very disappointing in that it does not present any new findings and lacking in depth scientific explanation about correcting methylation mutations. Her website alone provided more information and in much more depth than the book. If you have read all info on Dr Yasko's website you'll not find anything new or learn more from the book. This book is suitable for someone who has never read anything about the methylation cycle. In the book Dr Yasko also repetitively re-iterating the same info several times through out the book. It's a very short simplified book....more of a handbook really.

Excellent and original
Excellent book, lots of original, new, relevant and scientific information not found in other books, about problems in the methylation pathway. Those who look for a literary artwork instead of facts should look elsewhere.
