Love it
So far this looks like a very easy book to follow. I may need more than a day because I am not great with tools. But the plans look very basic!

Fun book, but lacking important information
I like the book and it’s good for ideas, but it’s lacking the information to complete all the projects. A couple of projects talk about cutting circles on a bad saw using a jig, but there’s no discussion about the jig. I guess you have to figure it out yourself. It’s clear that space was a consideration so complicated steps are condensed into a single step where really 2 or 3 would be better. But adding more steps means more pages. For a book that encourages child participation, I would expect clearer instructions.

Right house for the right bird
I liked the detail of the bird house dimensions and the proper house for the right bird. Also information on the birds habitat.JT

I only used two designs
I feel bad panning this book because I got the impression that the people who put this together are passionate about what they did.But ... to be honest ... I was unimpressed with the lack of practical, accurate designs, not to mention the materials being used. For me, most of the houses weren't something I'd want to make and put my name on. I'm not interested in building a birdhouse that looks like a human house. I want something that will attract a bird and serve its nesting needs. I want something that is practical. That can be easily cleaned. That's got an opening that's properly placed and sized. The book does have a chart on hole requirements, but it seems like a throw-in and you can easily find that online anyway. As for materials, there's just no way you're going to convince me to use plywood - of any type - for a birdhouse. Nor will I be painting it.I built two of the "american robin nesting shelf" because I thought was a great looking, practical solution. Surely, they came out great, but so far I've had no action on either one, despite the countless robins in the yard. Frankly, they seem too small for robins. While all my other designs are now occupied this spring, these have seen no action yet. Time will tell. The one house that I really liked from the book was the bat house from Megan Fitzpatrick. I built that and installed it on the barn. No action yet, but again ... time will tell. I really enjoyed making that house.I do want to build the butterfly house. That looks pretty cool to me. And I would actually paint that one.Otherwise, I could honestly pull most of the designs out of the book and be left with 1/10 of the material that I'd find useful.

Defenitly Quick Builds!
So far it is a very good book. Unfortunatly I have had a couple instances where measurements have not been correct. In the book it says to drill a 1 inch hole for a Chickadee house when it is suppose to be 1 and 1/8 inches. I only realized this after the poor Chickadees were beating their brains out trying to peck the hole bigger. At this point I looked it up on Google to find the right size. So in general it is a good book but be prepared to do some homework to make some stuff work.

Great Birdhouse Book for building
Very neat bird house building book, plus more ideas for feeders too. This book shows what bird for what birdhouse to make it for, very neat concept for anyone who loves to build and take care of birds. Great presents too. This book is easy to read and understand. My husband loves it.

Excellent source for ideas
Having been after some books on making bird houses to get local school kids and their woodwork teachers interested, this one stands out as it shows lots of inspirational constructions at different complexity level.Although for North America, the designs are quite simple to convert to Northern European birds.Beautifully illustrated, and also an interesting one for those who want something different for coffee table books.Highly recommended!

Great book nice pictures
Great book nice pictures, very helpful. Not really way out birdhouses ... could have done with a few more wild and wacky ones but that's just my preference. What there was was sensible, interesting, and in many cases inventive. A very good place to start.
