Q: Do i play from the blue end or the gold end? do you have a video how to play this ney? i have no idea what i'm doing but want to learn to play this.

You have to play from the blue end. Place it between your open incisor teeth an blow softly saying "tcheh". You have to cover all the holes. When all of them are covered you get a C (do), raising the ring finger of the right hand you get D, and when raising the pointer you get E (it is not a true E, but a microtonal pitch called Mi koron, which is almost a quarter tone below E and slightly above E flat). NEVER raise the middle finger (it mist be covering one of the ring that protect the knots of the cane). F is obtained raising the ring finger of the left hand. G is obtained opening the holes covered by the pointer and ring fingers of the left hand, keeping the middle and thumb covering their respectives holes. the note A you must raise the thumb for uncovering the back hole. If you blow a little bit harder the pitch raises one fifth and C will become G, D will be A, Mi koron will become Si Koron (Ti koron ar B koron), etc. There is an excellent instructor online who doesn´t charge too much for lessons through Skype. His name is Amir Eslami. He can be contacted through the Persian Music Academy called Rhytmitica, based in Toronto. They can be easily contacted through their website. I have learned a lot from them. Hi, This one without a mouthpiece. Turkish has a mouthpiece Sound of them not the same. Popular persian ney Keys are F and G Turkish Ney B
