Good quality wood, consistent pieces.
I purchased these to make pegs for a project my daughter was building. I had to reduce the shaft diameter by using a high-speed rotary cutter on my Dremel. I had surprisingly few crack or splinter under this abuse. They're made out of good quality hardwood and are consistently sized and machined from piece-to-piece.

Uniform size
They are uniform and consistently the same size. For my projects diameter is important.
