Q: Has anyone found another brand that works better than this new formulation of Natural Instincts?

I found 2 demi permanent brands and they work fairly well. One Ion Color Brilliance and the other is Wella Color Charm. The dye comes in tubes and you have to buy the and developer (which comes in a bottle) separately. Then you mix in the ratios recommended. For Ion Color Brilliance, it is 1:1. Make sure you pick the demi permanent developer because the same brand carries permanent dyes as well. They sell both brands online or at Sally Beauty Supply Stores. The salespeople are quite helpful if you tell them you are looking for demi permanent hair dyes and they can help you select the develop.

Q: What volume level is this?

These answers are just wrong. It CAN lift your color because it contains a 15 volume developer. That why it literally states it will lift up to 2 shades. I guess reading isn't these people's strong suit.

Q: For people who hate the new formula, what are you using now? It would be great to have a list of alternatives since so many are unhappy! Thanks!

I agree with all the people. The new formula does not work any where as good as the old. I am hoping that they go back to the old formula.

This new color is nothing like the old nutmeg! It is lighter and orangey, and lasts just a few shampoos. Very unhappy with new formula.
