Good Budget Commuter Headphone for $30! But NO APTX. OK Volume But Midrange is Compressed.
I like these as a budget commuter headphone solution for only $30! But they are NOT aptX Low Latency (aptX-LL), or even standard aptX (only SBC is supported), and their audio midrange has a compressed quality that loses some of the intermediate harmonic details. With ANC ON, the midrange sounds much better and closer to a correct reproduction but still missing some of the midrange harmonics. Though they don't provide the low 40ms aptX-LL Bluetooth latency that is preferable for gaming or movies, their latency is still tolerable and not much more than 1/5 of a second.I wouldn't use these TS-BH05 headphones for daily at-home music listening because an Equalizer cannot adjust their harmonic imbalance to approach audiophile quality (see DETAILS). There are plenty of low-end non-ANC Bluetooth headphones that do support AAC or aptX codecs for better balanced harmonics. But I think the TS-BH05 is perfect as a budget commuter headphone on a noisy train (via Bluetooth) and on airline travel (as a wired headphone) because they are comfortable, have reliable connectivity, have tolerable (though still noticeable) Bluetooth latency, and have reasonable ANC with over 10 hours of battery life. With ANC ON they have enough audio fidelity to allow the music's main harmonic components to still be enjoyed despite the noisy background that normally wouldn't have allowed you to adequately hear ANY audio at all.It would cost almost twice as much to add APTX for much better harmonic balance such as the Limu ANC/APTX-LL Headphone for $50 (see "www.amazon.com/review/R316JKTWAE30X" for details of the Limu headphones). So for $30, these TS-BH05 are worth it as rock-bottom budget ANC commuter headphones for noisy environments!DETAILS:Pros:The build quality is good and solid. They are extremely comfortable because the ear cups are large, padded with pillow-soft faux leather, and they swivel on 2 independent axis. The battery life is excellent and Bluetooth connectivity is really quick, reliable, and good for 40 ft with two walls in between. For budget headphones, they have good bass without being too boomy or overpowering. The ANC works reasonably well for droning bass sounds such as air conditioning and engine rumble, eliminating about 80% of it. Speech and sporadic high frequency noise is not blocked very much but that is OK in my opinion because it means you can still hear the airplane and airport announcements. The ANC actually makes the audio more balanced overall because it slightly boosts the midrange volume and clarity. These headphones sound better (more harmonically balanced) with ANC turned ON, even in a quite room!!!The supplied 3.5mm audio connection cable is OK but short and the ANC can be used even when the headphones are wired (great for use on airplanes to hear inflight audio music or videos). It does not include a carrying case or an audio 2-plug international airplane adapter (most newer planes use the single 3.5mm plug anyway). All of the control buttons are on the rim of the left ear cup which means you can safely rest the side of your head against a pillow while seating and not accidentally change any of the headphone controls. With ANC turned ON, the audio profile is much better and is very adequate for Hip-Hop, Rock, and Jazz. Though with ANC it is still missing some of the midrange harmonic details needed for audiophile symphonic music, the basic symphonic tonal profile is very clear and only the higher harmonic overtones of cellos & violas are filtered. Overall, with ANC turned ON the audio quality is adequate and enjoyable, especially in noisy environments!Cons:1) Not aptX Low Latency (aptxX-LL) or even standard aptX. ONLY SBC !!!The Amazon product description (as of 12/21/2018) says: "You can enjoy a latency lower than 95% of other Bluetooth headphones". That is what aptX-LL Bluetooth codec is supposed to provide and so I incorrectly thought they supported aptX-LL (a truly amazing deal for only $30!). My thorough testing verified the TS-BH05 only support the SBC codec which is the bare minimum codec required for Bluetooth audio (very disappointing). Though these headphones do not have horrible latency (not too much more than 1/5 of a second latency), they are nowhere near the 40ms latency of aptX-LL.Though the TS-BH05 product description did not claim they support ANY aptX codec, they should NOT have been so boastful about their latency claims and they should have made it clear the only Bluetooth codec they support is SBC. This is the main reason I didn't give them a 5-star review. I contacted Anxilant-US Customer Support twice and after presenting my testing data they eventually confirmed only SBC codec is supported and were very apologetic about the latency/aptX-LL confusion their product description caused. They seem to be a responsive and service oriented company and said they would improve their Amazon product description.2) Compressed midrange audio frequencies:If you enjoy experiencing the full overtones of symphonic music, these are not adequate headphones. The ANC corrects this a bit by giving the midrange more volume and restoring some of the sharpness so they sound better (more harmonically balanced) with ANC turned ON!Using them via wired connection without ANC gives them a boomy bass and slightly muffled midrange (which indicates audio-driver deficiencies). With ANC ON they have a diminished bass that has better overall harmonic balance and is only slightly boomier than a Bluetooth connection with ANC. ANC also provides improved midrange clarity but it is still not a correct reproduction of the music's midrange details. When using Bluetooth, the headphone's hard-coded internal Equalizer tries to compensate for the bass-biased audio drivers and is less boomy. The problem is that the midrange is still under-emphasized and feels as if the midrange frequencies have a compressed harmonic range. Their exclusive use of only the SBC codec may explain why their midrange frequencies sound as if they are filtered/compressed and very noticeably LACKING the intermediate harmonic overtones rather than they being present, but MUFFLED, as when wired. AAC Bluetooth codec headphones (used by Apple/iTunes) process audio better than basic SBC and of course aptX codecs sound the best of all with the most clear CD-like harmonic profile. Since these headphones only support SBC, they are nowhere near "Studio " quality Bluetooth headphones. But once ANC is turned ON, they provide a more enjoyable audio frequency spectrum that decreases bass boomyness and adequately brings out the main midrange tones for Rock or Jazz. With ANC ON, only the more subtle DETAILS of the midrange intermediate harmonic overtones are lost (e.g. the higher harmonic overtones of symphonic cellos & violas or the complex midrange harmonics of pianos).I typically adjust poor audio tonal balance by using an external Equalizer app but, when connected via Bluetooth, my attempts to to use a 10 channel Equalizer to only increase the midrange frequencies ended up introducing very noticeable clipping or chirping of the extreme high treble frequencies (maybe an effect of SBC codec compression?). For example, listening to a Beethoven symphony with a boosted midrange EQ caused annoyingly shrill violins.3) The buttons are not sufficiently raised to make them easy to feel with your fingertips. Because they all feel the same, it is very easy get them confused and press the wrong button.4) To completely power OFF the headphones, you need to remember to press both the POWER and ANC buttons or else the battery will still be drained by the ANC while you are not using them. Conclusion:Though I wouldn't use them for home audio listening, for a $30 price they are a good product to use in noisy environments that normally wouldn't have allowed you to adequately hear ANY audio at all. With ANC turned ON, you can hear the dominant melodic components with tolerable high fidelity so that listening to the music is still an enjoyable experience despite the surrounding noise. And they are so inexpensive that you won't cry in public if they get damaged or left behind on the plane!!!

BT 4.0, Apt X, Noise Cancelling, 18 Month Warranty for a Low Price!
When I saw the low price on these I decided to take a chance since they're available with Prime. I will tell you the shortcoming of these headphones up front and first thing: The Buttons. They are hard to feel and it will take you a while before you can tell the difference between the buttons and their edges. Now to the good things. My two main criteria: Sound quality and comfort.I would put their comfort at a 4 out of 5. The padding on top could be a bit thicker. The rest of the surfaces are super comfortable. They have a good position on top of your head so they stay in place. They are easy to handle, easy to put on and take off and they feel durable. They are comfortable for long periods.Sound quality is AWESOME!!! They are loud, clean, and DEEP. They produce so much bass you'll wish they were tighter against your head. If you've had deep bass headphones you know what I mean. The noise cancelling works great for noisy situations, it does cut out a lot of noise on a crowded train or bus (my main listening environments), and if you've got the music cranked up, definitely turn it on because they will give you a sound boost, but if it's quiet and you have the volume low, it's best to leave it off. They have easily paired with my phone, laptop, and tablet so you should have no issues there. I can walk into the next room and they won't cut out, they will cut out if I go two rooms away. In the open I can go about 50 feet before they start cutting out.Initial built quality impressions: They arrived with no build issues. The adjustable arms have a metal strip which will help durability. I have paid over 50 buck for headphones of similar build quality, but none have delivered the sound that these do. The sellers offer 18 months of warranty so I'm not worried about build. They have a big "L" and "R" on the inside of the cup that is helpful. They came well packaged and come with a short charging cable and 1/8" cord for analog use. I have yet to charge them and I've had them for 2 weeks

Worth what I paid
This is my first pair of noise cancelling, over the ear, headphones. I wasn't sure what to expect considering these are much cheaper than some of the other brands out there but they are actually pretty good quality. I used them recently to watch a Netflix show while staying with family who not only goes to bed fairly early, but also has a 3 year old that can be easily woken up so obviously I didn't want to disturb anyone with my TV viewing. They synced effortlessly with my tablet and I was watching episodes of The Office in no time! The sound quality was pretty good although I will say when listening to music, not as good as my ear buds that I use when working out, but that's ok. I primarily bought them for streaming shows when I don't want to disturb anyone and for plane rides when I don't want anyone to disturb me. The battery life is pretty much what they state. I accidentally forgot to turn them off one night and when I went to use them the next evening, I panicked and thought they'd die on me but they didn't. Honestly, even if they had, for the price I paid (I got them during a sale) I really can't complain.

Not great a noise cancelling but the battery life is amazing!
Update: Well I loved these but 3 months out and they Bluetooth has stopped working. I have tried everything and even email the company but no response...so dropping the rating because it wasn't worth it for only a few months.Previous review: This was more of a case where i got what I needed and not what I wanted. These really don't cancel out any noise...at all...well not any more than earmuffs would so if that is something you are really needing don't get these. If you are looking for comfortable headphones with long battery life then these are the ones for you. I can listen to music/audiobooks/whatever all day for 2-3 days before charging. Great product for the price.
