Best Electronic Drums Out There
One Word: Amazing. I did my research, went to GC and played the TD50, compared the electronic sets online, reviews, demos....Kept coming back to this set. Based on the reviews, without ever playing it, I pulled the trigger with the backing of Amazon's liberal return policy. I'm so glad I purchased this, never looking back. My only regret is not buying these sooner. These are amazing electronic drums that you can actually practice and gig with.Pros:Plug and play. Even though there are extensive tweaks you can do to dial in your triggers and sounds, I played this out of the box for a good 2 hours before I even read the instructions.Realistic. Because...it is a real drum set. Real shells. Real hoops. Real 18 inch kick drum. With electronics inside. The cymbals are the most realistic I've felt on any e-kit. If you close your eyes, the ride feels like you're hitting your ride. The crash feels like you're crashing on your crash. The kick drum feels like my real kick drum, not that plastic slapping feel you get with other e-kits. Once you've played it awhile, you can set up each instrument's triggers to respond to your playing style, and it's a good idea to revisit them now and again, since your playing style could change over time.Sounds. The set comes with about 5 kits pre-installed, and you can download another 4 or 5 kits from the store for free. They are working on more and releasing them every now and then. These are real drum sounds, recorded from the actual instruments. You can also buy individual drum sounds. Maybe you just want a different kick drum. Maybe some new hi-hats. You've got Zildjian A's and K's, Sabian HHX and Legacy, Paiste Sig, etc. Ludwig, DW, Pearl toms, kicks, and snares. A Black Beauty snare. Supraphonic, Yamaha, etc. Cowbells, wood block, tambourine, etc. There are enough for me to make what I need.Cons:Not enough cons to knock a star, but the hardware setup instructions could be a little more detailed. Speaking of hardware, I found the quality of the stands to be lacking, some of them won't tighten all the way, but I ended up using my own hardware. The kick drum comes with a patch that won't last more than a couple days so toss it and put a Remo Falam Slam patch on there instead. And lastly, the cross stick wood block function is great, but can get pretty loud if you're trying not to bug anyone in the house with your playing. As others have said, the hi-hat is a little noisy, but can be lessened with some felt placed on the lower hat edges. These are all minor inconveniences to me, as no product is perfect.Overall, such an amazing electronic drum set right out of the box, ready to practice and gig with. I'm looking forward to bringing this to that one bar in town next month that has the owner who always says the music is too loud. He's going to love us.
