Diff'rent Strokes: The Complete Seventh Season [DVD]

A representation of a special era long gone
This series is amongst the best comedy series of all time & should still be airing in heavy rotation like I Love Lucy & Brady Bunch, this season was on during my elementary school years along with classics like Silver Spoons, Transformers, Voltron, Facts of Life, G.I. Joe & aside from the flack Cooksky's character received, the Sam character got a lot of laughs & season 7 is indeed a great season, I think people confuse the NBC 7th season with the final ABC 8th season & although I still love the ABC 8th for nostalgic reasons, the final ABC 8th season is the season when the show got tired with repeated storylines & the charm started to fade away, I was so sad when the show ended cause at that time in my young life other inevitable changes occurred during that time & inevitable change is apart of life & apart of growing up, but it's so cool to take a trip down 80's memory lane, relive a great era in time that's long gone & on top of that, I'm enjoying Conrad Bains character through adult eyes, he was so entertaining & brought so much heart to the show, I miss classy characters like him cause I think kids need characters like him on tv today, RIP Conrad Bain, Gary Coleman, Dana Plato & Dixie Carter :'(

ANOTHER GREAT SEASON/EPISODES
Very great season and the episodes are uncut/unedited (as usual)… but if only they were all played in PRODUCTION order (instead of network broadcast order) on the discs though. Other than that, the episodes are enjoyable.

That darn red headed kid
Good season overall. Sam tries to steal the spotlight from Arnold but Arnold still rules the roster. The stories are aimed at Sam and aren't as clever or interesting as past seasons but the rest of the cast makes up for it. Still worth owning if a fan.

Good
I grew up watching this show and loved every minute of it. However I think the show lost a lot when Dana Plato was written out of the series

Damaged on arrival
Due to extremely thin boxes, which is all to common these days the disc holders were damaged. On this occasion the discs were unaffected however on other occasions and because of the damage the discs have also been damaged. I have lost count on how many times I have ordered a new item and it has been damaged on arrival. This is due to manufacturers skimping on sufficient materials going into the production off their products, effectively making them unfit for purpose. When will the manufacturers realise that DVD boxes need to be off a certain density or thickness to protect the discs inside? Every new DVD purchased now, either comes in extremely thin boxes with more squeezability than a stress ball (which ironically has the opposite effect) Or they have pieces cut out of each side making them more flexible than an American express card but the difference is these boxes are less friendly. These particular boxes are referred to as recycle boxes however why should I want to recycle the case and indeed why should I? When I purchase a complete item why am I then expected to throw over half of it away as these cases are suggesting by having not only the words recycle on them but the peices cut out are of a recycling logo. Oh how clever of whoever thought of this idea most commendable of you! but it does not help the thousands of physical media collectors like myself when they receive their items only to find a large percentage of the time that they are broken, damaged or scratched. Why should people have to purchase stronger cases simply because the manufacturers are no longer supplying them? It's not as though you are paying any less for the privilege of owing your favourite movies or a television series that you may enjoy but if it was a question of paying a couple off pounds extra to have them in a proper substantial case then I would choose this option every time. It seems that whoever is producing these items couldn't care less with what the customer receives or if they are satisfied with the products or not. It's as though quality no longer counts and all that matters is obtaining the cheapest materials possible and if the product suffers from it then so what. Their attitude seems to be that if the customer isn't happy with their products then too bad because we don't care now that we have your payment. Maybe if manufacturers didn't try to cheapen the boxes/cases this kind of frequent occurrence could be preventable. Many discs have arrived scratched and many cases have been broken surely it isn't very cost effective when damages happen more frequently due to substandard materials being used? Wouldn't better stronger cases like the ones we used to have be far more effective, isn't prevention better than the cure? I would therfore request and for the sake of everyone that you manufacture the good cases again or in other words good quality products and supply the customer not only what they have paid for but what they deserve.

Second to Last Season, still a good laugh!
Mr. D is now married and Arnold now has a little stepbrother to help guide through life, what is more do you need to create comedy. Recommend the season 7 DVD box set to anyone who has the rest of the sitcom series as it continues the comical situations Arnold finds himself in back in the mid 1980's.
