Maeve Binchy at Her Best!
Maeve Binchy is my all-time favorite author. I've read all of her books (most of them twice). I hadn't discovered this one until I saw it on Amazon, and I'm so glad I did. Ms. Binchy's subject matter and characters are all ordinary people, living ordinary lives, but the stories involving them always have a twist that makes them interesting. Her ear for dialogue is impeccable, too. I enjoyed Dublin 4 very much and am sure I'll read it again!

Excellent story
Good mystery. Not the usual story by this author. Real twist at the end.

Dublin 4 was recommended by our tour guide during our tour of Great Britain this summer. These four stories looking a slices of life in Dblin in the second half of the 20th century lived up to her recommendation. This led me to pick up a few more of Mave Binchy's books. I was sorry to learn that this perceptive author chronicling women's lives in Ireland died in 2012. The world lost a great storyteller.

Short stories
It was short stories. I thought it was a novel. Just disappointing. The book itself was in satisfactory condition.

Short but well worth reading it
I have read nearly all of Maeve Binchy's books and love every single one of them. Dublin 4 did not disappoint me, I just wished it would have been longer. It is a shame that Ms. Binchy passed away but her books are her greatest legacy. She brings the characters in her books to life; I especially love her ability making her readers feel like they lived where her characters lived and have some of them re-appear in other books.

Maeve Binchy at her best
This is a collection of 4 short stories. Well written and nicely reprinted with updated graphics on the cover. MS. Binchy's elloquent descriptions sraw you right into the stories. He well written dialog, and believable characters have the reader hoping the tales will never end. A must read for the Binchy fan. A great book for traveling. The stories are short, and time manageable, with all the wonderful insights into the charaters to make new readers & longtime fans satisfied.

Didn't WOW me, this time.
This book comprises four stories, all of which are too short to be novels, but too long to be short stories - and not quite novelettes either; there are too many unanswered questions at the end of each one. Unusually for me, I found myself looking forward to finishing this book simply so as to move on to a meatier, more satisfying text, by the same author. If you are new to Maeve Binchy, this is not an ideal introduction to her work, so look a bit further and come back to this one later. This book contains the seed-corn of many of Ms Binchy's later characters, in longer novels. I only wish there'd been four novels written, one from each of these stories.
