Senma Electronics Magnetic Stud Finder

Great gadget, does exactly what it says on the box. Light and easy to use. Glides easily over the surface and locates the studs.

This magnetic stud finder has two powerful magnets, one at each end and a small spirt level that can be set at different angles in increments of 45 degrees. It has no electronics to go wrong or batteries to go flat. I bought it to find the nails supporting two layers of platerboard on my garage ceiling. I was a little worried at first that the magnets would be powerful enough to "detect" the nials on the ceiling as it has a rough stippled effect, however it proved up to the job. Slowly scanning the area, back and forth, you can sense when you are near a nail by the magnets pull on the unit which gets stronger the nearer you are. As you can see from the photo the magnets were strong enough to support the unit on the ceiling. It would of course be even better if the ceiling was not stippled. Once you find one nail it is then quite easy to find the next one on the rafter, and so on unitl you have found them all.I also used it to find the uprights behind the plasterboard walls, marking the positions of the nails and the you just need to join the dots.I would recommend this to anyone who needs to locate the studs behind plasterboard assuming they have been nailed in place.

Used on a plasterboard wall for identifying the optimum spot to place a guitar wall hanger. The magnets are very strong and should have no little trouble finding the studs. The build in spirit level is a welcome addition and it should help when marking where to drill. The included instructions are clear and include easy to follow diagrams.Overall cannot fault the product for the money. Just make sure you handle it carefully as it will require a good bit of force to remove from a bare metal surface.

To start off, the service from the vendor was first class - item ordered at 12.00pm on Friday and delivered less than 24 hours later on Saturday.To the stud finder itself then. The device works by simple use of some strong magnets which accurately detected nail heads in the timber during my searches. The unit basically does "what it says on the tin", and for the cost is a perfectly good piece of kit for locating studs,As long as you just need to find studs, then why spend more? - Recommended.

Very strong magnet

replaced an expensive high tech detector that at its best was very unreliable and frustrating to use with this simple piece of equipment. So simple, just works , takes absolutely no room up in my tool bag, will never run out of batteries, and will never break down for a tenth of the price of a half reliable detector.
