stylistic. Nothing great about it. maybe it's just teenage angsty American and i don't like this genre. Having said that, it's better than other books in the same bucket that I got together with this. Recommend some Indian comic authors and journo-comics like Maus and Joe sacco stuff over this.

Gruesomely scary. Honest imaginary commentary and metaphorical in approach towards the negative immature psychological habits of adolescence.Charles Burns art is stunningly outstanding when it comes to inking!

If you love the macabre and comics then this is the book for you. Such an amazing take on the teenage angst and fear of the strange epidemic in the town.

It took me about a year to get round to reading this. 'Blackhole' is a rare piece of art in itself and the artwork is so impressive that it doesn't do anything but impress all the way through. It's a highly unusual Graphic Novel but it borders around the description of 'David Lynch on LSD'. I have to admit I've never read anything like it and it's profound, massively sad, and also very inspiring. If you don't like or admire Charles Burns artwork, then avoid it but if your interested in having your mind expanded, then read on...

The art work in this graphic novel is excellent and the storyline is also of a high quality. Definitely not for children though. To say the plot is all about teenage angst would be a little harsh, but I think it would be fair to say that the main theme probably centres around the issues faced with being a teenager and awkward transition from childhood into adulthood. There are a few subtexts interweaved with the main narrative, both cultural and ideological but for me the main draw is the way the stroy is told, increasing with intensity as it progresses. I like the way the reader is allowed to make their own conclusions at the end, although I did feel slightly disappointed some of the threads where left unresolved... I might have to read it a few more times to really get it though. Good book and worth adding to your collection, if you don't already own it. I'll be checking out more of Charles Burns' work soon.

I m an Alan Moore fan (Watchmen, V for vendetta, league of extraordinary gentlemen 1&2, swamp thing).Bought this book due its marvelous reviews, not only in amazon but in every respected blog.This book was not boring but totally pointless.I like to read innovative things, this was well polished can food.

Quite simply; the BEST graphic novel collection I have ever read. I thought nothing could trump Preacher by Garth Ennis but this blew me away. Creepy and disturbing in equal measure. The story line and epic illustrations are a perfect fit. Fans of Burns' previous work will be familiar with his winning art work. Does not disappoint!

This book has angst-ridden, alienated youth written all over it. Disguised as a horror-ish tale of weird sexually transmitted diseases that change the looks of the infected, the story catches the typical teenage feeling of being alone in the universe, feeling different than the rest. Burns' inky style is beautiful and dark, and this hardcover version is the edition to get for a lasting experience.

Another brilliant story by Charles Burns about the anxiety/horror that comes with adolescence.

I've actually only started reading it, but I must say that this is incredible work. It's difficult to find really good comic novels,but this is one of those extraordinary pieces that has you completely absorbed from page 1.

Perfect Conditions - a Masterpiece of Comics Art -perfect state fantastic comic book - the volume was new without imperfections - the story is psychedelic and surrealistic.
