Excellent for self -study
I haven't started 3 yet but this series is so far the best grammar book I found for self -study. It is complemented well with the workbook. They recycle vocab of earlier chapters as well.

Good language course to follow :)
Very nice book, materials on CD are also good. I'm learning Chinese for some time now and I find this book maybe not challenging (because it is just 2nd part) but it definitely is preparing you to speak about things you will use in daily life when living in China / talking to natives.
