Great for Nervous Moms
We had been struggling to get our son (8 mos) interested in puree of any sort since he hit 6 mos, though he showed interest in our dinner plates! I was worried about how to introduce "real" food and the risk of choking etc. The careful instructions / descriptions of what to expect made a huge difference in making me feel safe and confident in giving our son "real" food. As soon as we put the roasted zucchini on his high chair tray he grabbed it and started munching away! The recipes are simple but had suggestions that I wouldn't have thought of (like how to make an avocado more "grip-able" for little hands).

Pages all mixed up and Duplicated.
I’m so disappointed in the quality of the actual book. The pages are all out of order. Some are duplicated. They use the same pictures for multiple pages. For example, there is a picture of the “easy avocados” like 3 times for multiple recipes. (See attached photos). Such a bummer.

Great for anyone curious about baby-led weaning!
This is the book I wish I'd had when I started feeding my son solids! I was curious about baby-led weaning, but still also wanted to feed him purees (especially at daycare). This book offers a nice, flexible approach that let's you do both--and tells you the best way to make finger foods safe for Baby. The recipes are healthy, easy-to-prepare and my son has liked the ones I have made so far. I'd recommend buying this and the author's other baby food book, if you want a really comprehensive recipe repertoire.

Good recipes
It's an ok book. Not too clear of size of foods and when appropriate to feed. Not enough pictures if it's supposed to be more of a cookbook. The recipes look great but they don't address food allergies which are very common in babies being exposed to foods for the first time. Doesn't provide ideas on substitutions for many allergens.

A beautiful book with easy and healthy recipes
I ordered a couple different books on baby led weaning and by far Baby-Led Feeding: A Natural Way to Raise Happy, Independent Eaters is the best one of the lot. Its beautiful photos, easy to follow recipes and age-appropriate meal guidance have made baby-led feeding a joyful experience in our house. At 10-months-old my daughter loves fruits and vegetables and is becoming very proficient in feeding herself. Her favorite meal is shredded chicken breast with fresh cubed tomatoes, but she also loves leafy green puree cut with a little bit of applesauce. And the family meal planning section helps my husband and I eat food that we really enjoy with our daughter. We especially like the one pan gnocchi with mushrooms. Do delicious! It makes me really happy to see my daughter develop a wide palette for healthy food.

This is a fun read and very informative
This is a fun read and very informative, especially for first-time parents who are wondering "can baby eat this?" The first half of the book talks about what and when to feed baby, and the last half is a collection of easy recipes (breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks!) that the entire family will enjoy. It's exactly the reference I was looking for, and hopefully will help us avoid making separate meals for baby in the future!

LOVE THIS BOOK
The guidance and recipes in this book are awesome. It doesn't waste time telling you the same thing over and over. They offer a slightly more laid back version of BLW, great for first time mom's who are navigating first foods for the first time, but don't want to stress about the strictness that a lot of BLW books and groups stick to. It explains how to safely cook foods for your little one, and gives you creative yet simple ideas to try. I highly recommend!

Super helpful and no shaming!
I was feeling overwhelmed to start my 6 month old on solids and curious about baby led feeding/weaning. Because our baby is at daycare I knew he would likely need a mix of purees and solids and this book does a great job helping you get started no matter how you want to feed your baby without making it seem like you're doing anything wrong. She breaks down the science, provides delicious recipes, offers great tips and gives you a handy feeding chart/schedule. Definitely worth the money and I can't wait to dive into the recipes with baby!

Informative, friendly approach to baby led feeding
I found this book really helpful and reassuring when we started giving our baby solids. It advocates a mixed approach of purées and finger foods and is very relaxed, non-judgey approach to baby led feeding which can be in some circles, let’s be honest, pretty judgey. It contains really useful information on important topics like gagging/choking and important nutrients, although I would always recommend parents go and do additional research on these things to equip themselves with the relevant knowledge. I have shared this book with several friends with younger children.I did make a few of the recipes but mainly used them to for inspiration, adapting to what ingredients we had available. As we don’t eat meat some recipes weren’t suitable for us but this didn’t put me off and the overall approach and information made it a worthwhile purchase. It’s probable all this information could be found online but I found it helpful and reassuring to have it all in one place and from a more reputable source rather than all the stuff online which can be intimidating when you’re starting out weaning your first child. One feature I used the most was the page with how to cut finger foods for babies by age, this was so helpful.

My go to book when I need inspiration
The intro and general description at the start is very American. I love the simple recipes and serving sizes guidance. The summary section on vitimins and minerals needed per day and what foods it’s in makes it really easy.

Great recipe ideas!
Love this book! It explains baby led weaning really clearly and has some great recipes. I also love that it has photos of finger foods for starting out for the first few weeks, so you can clearly see what they can experiment on. Really recommend it.

Bloody front cover
Didn't get to even open this book. I sent it straight back after opening it as it was in terrible condition bent at the edges and had what looked like blood smeared over the front cover. Disgusting!
